That is possibly the cage though it was bought for her 2/3 years ago so might be a tad different. I haven't seen the box it's in as my husband will need to go over and collect it from her shed (good luck with that!!). I think I will get it - and have fun decking it out with new budgies and toys! Budgie owning is becoming very addictive it seems! Thanks for your help.

Hi there, I currently have two lovely male/female baby budgies in a large flight cage and I plan to keep them in this. After some initial issues, my female is now tolerating my male and they seem to be living in harmony! A neighbour of mine was given a huge cage for her 60th birthday from her family, though they were not to know that she actually dislikes birds even though she has one budgie in a cage in her lounge room! The boxes are unopened but she tells me that the cage is 100cm long, 60cm deep and 180cm high (and has a roof) and she is offering me this cage for $5! It's been sitting in her shed for 2 or 3 years and she wants it gone ASAP and since I got my two budges, she thought I would be interested! I am keen to take it, however I want to know if the size is okay and if it truly is suitable for 2 or 4 budgies without them becoming cramped or limiting their ability to fly. I have a huge enclosed balcony that is completely weatherproof and secure so I was hoping to put it there. Also, if I were to buy 4 male budgies (adults, so I know they are 100% male), would they all get along okay? I absolutely do not want babies so I wont buy a female. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Thanks so much for your responses! I wont get another budgie and will happily leave things as they are. They have a big cage, though Edward follows her around the whole time while she tries to escape him. I'll put another food and water dish inside just in case they need it. I'll be popping back into the pet shop next week as well. The lady who sold me the budgies was adamant they were male so perhaps she needs to freshen up her budgie sexing skills! I never ever buy from pet shops, but these two were in a clean cage looking perky and healthy and I couldn't resist.
  4. Ohhh no! Poor Edward! No wonder Buddy isn't interested. It's funny how Buddy (need to re-name!!) enjoys being with me but wont tolerate him. She has never bitten me and always flies to me when I am in the room. I'm unsure what to do now since Edward is keen for a fellow budgie friend. Will introducing a third bird (male) throw the dynamics off in any way? I feel so sorry for Edward now!
  5. Thanks for the quick response. I'll upload photos shortly. It would be just my luck if Buddy was female! Funny that I was told they were both 100% male! I should have mentioned that their outside time is on my balcony that is fully enclosed and I am usually with them at the same time so all good in that regard. Photos coming soon.Okay, here they are: Edward Buddy Hope these are clear enough. Edward is the one who is attempting to preen, kiss and snuggle with Buddy. Buddy is avoiding Edward and nipping at him.
  6. Hi there, this is my first post but I've been reading for weeks! I've got two male budgies, Edward & Buddy who I got at the same time from the same place. Both birds do the step up command and are not afraid of me or my hand in any way. The issue lies with Buddy not tolerating Edward! Edward attempts to preen, kiss and feed little Buddy however he is always met with a peck in return. It hasn't turned nasty (yet) but Buddy simply wants nothing to do with Edward. My two questions are: 1. What can I do to help them bond to one another? 2. Should I introduce a third budgie for poor Edward who is desperate for a mate? I have a 80cm flight cage that is for nighttime use. They also have twice daily cage free time (though Edward always comes out, Buddy stays in). They both also love getting into their outside cage that sits on my balcony on nice days for fresh air! When Buddy is away from Edward, he will sing and play with his toys, but never when Edward is around. Edward plays ALL day. Any help appreciated! I am feeling very sorry for Edward.
