hi everyone, just a couple questions if i may........... i have put my cobalt/violet cock with a new hen i bought recently and was wondering how long does it take for them to produce eggs ????? there are in a cabinet breeding cage with fresh seed every day plus also sprouted seed,vegetables,shell grit, etc etc they have been paired up now for 10 days. they are nice and warm as the breeding box is inside the house. the hen keeps going into the box itself all the time but i check and no eggs ???????? just wondering cause im keen to get some baby budgies. thanks in advance Ernie KRAWLR

Did the vet say coccidiosis ? The meds you have been given is the common one given for Psittacosis but is broad spectrum antibiotic ?> and works for most things. The 45 days treatment you have been given is common for psittacosis. Why dont you phone your vet and ask what it was he said the bird had ? i will and post back again....... thanks Ernie

hi Kaz,yes went to a proper avian vet and yes test were done. crop needle down the throat and poo sample taken.i thought it was Canker but the vet said it wasnt. the name she said was something like coolco or something like that. the AB i have from her is called Doxyvet which i mix at 1/8 teaspoon to 250ml water for 45 days.i was told if it still persists ill have to take him back for x-rays after the 45 days.what would you think it is ???????? hi Splat,no he is a fat slob lol :)the vet said he is a big boy and weighed 59 grams.it doesn't seem to affect him as he is as active as. he comes out and fly's around the house and then he will go back to his cage by himself.Ive steam cleaned his cage and stream cleaned all his feeders but im just a little un- nerved

Hi Everyone, have a small question to ask....... my budgie Sid has been to the avian vet for vomiting which i thought was a problem but now he has been on antibiotics for a week now but he still is vomiting. he has a mix of seed/fruit/vegs etc but its the seed that comes up all the time and he spends most of the day eating. he is a very active bird and i would say 95% healthy but he just gorges himself on seed and then throws it all up. im slightly worried and want to cut his food right down to a bare minimum just to give the antibiotics a run and see if it fixes the problem. i mix the AB at a rate of 1/8 of a teaspoon to 250ml of water every day and also take .3 of the mix in a syringe direct into his crop everyday. its kind of un-nerving as i love him to death and would be devastated if something happens. your help will be grateful thanks Ernie KRAWLR

hi Everyone, just thought i would say hi and a thank you for a great site. i came across this site while Google for show budgie problems and found a great Avian vet at this Forum. i had a problem with my cock bird which was throwing up all the time and now he is getting some medication for it which after a couple days seems to be doing the trick. my budgie's name is Sid and he is a awesome bird. i bought him off a friend a while ago ( bout a year old he is ) and would love to start breeding him as he seems to be wanting to well how can i say this without being cras........ (Roo*ing everything.... sorry bout that ) if anyone can point me in the right direction with a breeding book as Ive read a fair few of the breeding forum posts but i need something in hardback for my own. once again thank you for the great website/forum and keep up the great work !!!!!!!!!! cheers Ernie KRAWLR my budgie Sid: p.s he doesnt like it when your near his feeder bin as he can see another bird in the bottom of it lol........ funny stuff, he's a classic ! p.p.s also can someone tell me exactly what he is.......... i was told he is a Violet but ive seen some violets here and he is different to the ones ive seen. p.p.p s please forgive my photos......... it was off my phone camera. if you need better ones i can arrange it.
