I heard that Show budgies have shorter life period than general English budgies. Is that true? Do they get sick easily because of a little stress? Do they sometimes die during the flight of 10 hours? I wonder if it is true. And I heard that they don't breed as well as normal bidgies. Is it difficult for them to breed even when I trim the feathers around the vent?

I am a breeder who really wants to raise show budgies, living on the other side of the Earth. We don't have those wonderful ones in the picture above. so I 'd like to import the show budgies of good quality to Korea. but, Australia doesn't seem to allow its animals out of the nation. if so, can I be helped to import show budgies from other breeders in the US or Europe for reasonable prices? I ask you to introduce some breeders who sell or export show budgies. if the price is too high, I can't afford to do that. I am not rich and not intended to sell them to others. it's just for my own interest. in the case that I ask some importing service agents, I could not select what I want. so, I myself will visit the place and bring them to Korea. Even if I will be with my companion, I could bring only 8 ones at most.

The number of English budgies in Korea is small. The birds in the picture above are the ones imported from an Italian breeder recently, which are of the best quality ever seen in Korea. They say it cost 400 US dollars per head including the customs, shipping and so on. However, we still don't have such ones of high quality as seen in the pictures below. Breeders in Europe say they are worth 2000-4000 Euro. I wonder how much they are in Australia.

Um....you're right. It seems the hen is a cinnamon opaline spangle violet.

The hen is the same as the eldest.

Thanks, KAZ & Neville. The mother doesn't have cinnamon markings. Today, the second chick came out of the nestbox. The second chick is a opaline spangle violet cobalt. The cock seems to be a spangle grey violet.

The picture was taken before moving to a new place. Now the birds can't see the outside view partly.

Only 1 pair is 2 years old. The other 2 pairs are under 1 year old except 1 male. Anyway, none of the pairs aren't laying eggs. Sunlight is enough because cage is located by the window. They have been together with a nest box since they were young.

Breeding cage set up is like the picture above. several toys are added to the left. The violet & the grey are under 1 year. 2 year old birds are on the second floor to the right. Nestbox is fixed outside the cage like the picture above. I know their age since i got them from a petshop as chicks. The bird stay inside the cage most of the time. they breed in the cage.

They are over 2 years old, but don't lay eggs though mating. They just like biting the nest, and don't like to stay inside it. It seems like that they enjoy playing with toys while not interested in breeding. Do they think the nest outside is dangerous to lay eggs in? Is it too much fun to play with toys to breed? They do mate, but don't lay eggs. Why?

Thanks, nubbly5. I meant she is violet unmixed with blue. she has two blue factors clearly. But she's not blue visually. For this case, I wonder how violet factor affects the body color and want to know if she has single violet factor or double factors.

She is an opaline spangle violet cobalt. And she is pure violet. I'm confused she is a SF violet cobalt or a DF violet cobalt.

He is a goldenface dominant pied skyblue. But the patterns on the cheek patches are not same, which is white on the right side and cobalt-violet on the left side. The patterns on the ventral sides are not same. I think he is a half-sider. Do you think I'm right?

Thank you for your brilliant advice. Hans you could try placing two perches side by side about 3cm or a bit more than an inch apart, that would allow the hen to lay on the perch during mating. This has often worked for me.

The first bird on the right has a big build. She is partly splay-legged, so she has much difficulty mating & breeding. She acts like a cock waving her head & even feeding male budgie. But she also shows normal female behaviors such as scratching male birds or getting fed. Though splayed, with a limp, she walks straight & sideways on the perch quite well. I heard big females show low reproduction. Is that true? If so, why is that? Which is more important reason, partly splay-legged or big body size?
