Hi all, very new to this, had given up on breeding the birds as they are getting on 2 years old and have never shown signs of having fertile eggs, until I was walking past the avery this evening and hears a few squeaks, out of 4 eggs in one box one has so far hatched
Now what I am really worried about is the cold, they are outside in breeding box, in an avery, it is reasonably sheltered but is outside none the less. Do I need to worry given here in Melb it is freezing lol
Also, all the food in the avery is the standard seed. I do get seed from a proper bird shop and they assure me it is the highest quality and a good blend, do I need to provide any other food.
The mother is sitting ontop of the chick, if I try and even get near it I get attacked by both mum and dad lol, figured is best to just leave be for a few days so as not to cause stress to either the chick or the parents
Any help would be awesome, i have read heaps on these fantastic forums, little information overload to be honest but have some of the jist of it
On a final note, I have read in many posts about greens and veggies, do these birds prefer anything in particular, have tried in the past to have various fruit and vegies in the avery but has never been looked at.
