When To Move Baby To Kindy Cage
Thanks KAZ . I have had seed in the box since day 1. ?? Every time i check on him his crop is full of, full seed? ETA- I wouldn't be so worried if he was in a breeding cabinet like the other birds. But originally i was going to do colony breeding but decided not to went to remove the boxes and she had already laid. So the fall from the nest box is about 1.8mtrs so thats also what is worrying me?

What Colour?
Thanks , Checked his eyes they are both completely black.. So that means Cobalt Yellowface Recessive Pied ? ... I will be breeding these two as they have bonded so well and i think they are both beautiful! They will both be about 14-15months Spring next year so will try them out then!. The male if you look closely is a mix of green, grey, blue and dark green! She looks completely grey i havnt found any other colours on her .. I'm really excited to see what colour babies they produce but my guess is definetly blue based on PPs and fathers colouring. I'll post some piccies when the babies hatch/feather

What Colour?
I recently put together a pair who are sitting on their first egg.. I am now wondering what kind they are Heres the cock Here they are together (she came out to see what was going on lol) Also I have another pair who are babys and won't be ready till next spring but when i bought them the blue one looked like a boy and the yellow a girl .. But now their ceres have changed and they have swapped sex's lol. This is the best picture i could get.. ( i have very shy budgies lol) http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad323/l...ut/DSCF2551.jpg Also was thinking i shouldn't be breeding the yellow with a blue as he/she has a blue patch on their back so she clearly has blue somewhere in there ? (i'm hopeless as all these mutation/genetic terms) WDYT?

When To Move Baby To Kindy Cage
Hi all.. Quick recap on my last topic... Hen was in avairy (alone with cock). Laid 5 eggs. Cock escaped . Hen continued to sit on eggs. 3 hatched. 2 died :-( . So i was left with my one little baby . Who i am crazy about. He is 30days today . This morning i went out and he was on the avairy floor huddled in the corner mum was flying around as she usually does as of lately she saw me and flew into her box and i found him on the floor.. Cuddled him as i do every day and then put him back in the box. I know at this stage they can leave the nest and dad will feed them? But he doesnt have a dad :-( . Can i move them into a normal cage and put an icecream container on the floor for baby? Will mum still feed him if i put h er in there with him?? TIA

Mice?
This needs to be super quick as i need to do about 20 things before i'm due at work in 40mins.. I posted a while ago about a budgie that flew off and left the hen on her eggs.. This is in my avairy. She ended up laying another 2 the day he flew off.. I looked at them after about 6 days then were brownish so i didn't think they were fertile... Last Sun i think an egg was due to hatch so checked every day until tues when nothing had hatched. Decided to check the eggs for fertility as didnt want her stuck on eggs if they wern't fertile. Well i checked all 5 (with a pen light) and they all were red with veins So much to my shock they were all fertile. Since then 2 have hatched 1 yesterday and 1 the day before I have been putting seed IN her box as advised by Kaz so mum is doing really well and i clean it every 2nd day/replace with seed. Tonight went in to take out vegies i put in this morning and i saw an egg on the ground near the door almost. Being a large avairy i don't understand how it got there!! I picked it up hoping just to find an empty egg . But there was a baby in there i swear i felt it move so i held it for a little longer and saw a wing poke out the crack that had formed on the egg... So i decided to put the egg back in the nest. Was this the right thing? Also this is the bit that saddens me the most when i was leaving the cage i saw a mouse stuck head first in the wire.. This cages sqaure "openings" are about 5cm 3x3 how is this possible!! Was it the mouse that took the egg!!?? How do i stop mice getting in in the future!! I also have a breeding cabinet and another budgie cagew with 2 youngens on my deck near my back doorr. How do i protect these ones!!.. Mouse traps is the obvious idea but i have a dog and a cat that are also outside and curious!! I will check via my phone tonight for any answers and will do anything i can first thing when i get home (at 10pm) or in the morning TIA

Urgent Help Needed!
Thanks everyone.. Did what you said Kaz put seed in the box for her. What i meant by my little rant at the beginning was basically i am an idiot. I don't know why i didnt just put them in a cabinet to begin with. I'm so mad at myself. Cried today when i went out and saw mums head poking out of box chirping and looking for her mate

Urgent Help Needed!
Thanks heaps!!. One more question.. When do i move her to her own breeding cabinet? . I worry now that when the chicks are born if the leave nest before mum because they dont have dad to watch them.... Should or can i move her now or when chicks are hatched or shouldi wait for the chicks to all leave the nest?. I can move her box into a breeding cabinet as her box will fit the ones i have. Still looking for dad.. no luck as of yet
