  1. Yes, she is  But is it normal for opaline spangle to have pattern like this? It's quite different from the rest, and looks.. not so spangle
  2. My little budgies are now about 1 month old, and one of them have different pattern on wings. (Father is Df spangle mum is not spangle) The rest of chicks to compare:
  3. Well, chicks are alive and mum is doing well Earlier I was giving half of millet intoo the nest box, but now I gave her a very big millet  I left them into the nest box - I didn't want to put them into the container while mum is feeding them Today I went to vet to ask what to do with this wounds, but he said - just watch them and we will worry if they start to look bad (infection). Now they are covered with scab, and chick with injury on forehead looks fine - just like a little scratch. I spoke with a breeder and he told that he never heard that male is attacking chicks - it's always mum... I wonder why he attacked... He was very good father to this moment :hap: And chicks are beautiful from this couple - now I'll be affraid to breed them again
  4. I'm 100% sure that dad attacked chicks becouse i heard it and mum was outside at that time. She started to chase dad when he was trying to go into the nestbox. When I took him she is feeding them all the time: food-chicks-food-chicks... i think that becouse of this situation they weren't fed good by this few hours... The hen is very busy feeding them now... Do you think she will manage to feed them properly? Maybe i should put in the nest box very large ... this http://www.papuzka.netax.pl/artyk/img/prosozolte.jpg (i don't know the name in english ) and one more question.. I can't find in polish sites any info how long chicks should eat boiled egg every day? Maybe I gave it too often and thats why dad started to be agressive??
  5. I'm confused... 8hours later, female started to attack male ;| Few times I heard a noise and when I went there I saw that when he tried to go into the nest box she attacked. Few minutes later she chased him even if he was on the perch below... I took him from the cage - they were very nervous, but i'm not sure if I did right thing. Will she be able to feed five so big chicks??
  6. Parrents have calmed down and i heard that mum fed them, and what's strange - just few minutes ago both parrent's was in the nestbox and i'm almost sure that both fed them. I don't know what to think... Mayby dad realy chock his leg somewhere and was scared? I was stupid that I installed this ladder there :/ I'm almost sure that parrents now feed chicks - they chirp in this particular way when parrents feed them... I can't see other explanation why dad attacked chicks and now it's okay... It was my fault I'm worried about this wounds... yesterday morning I've cleaned nestbox, so I hope there won't be any infection... I'm just happy that the eyes are okay...
  7. Hi! one hour ago (7am) I went to a bird room to turn on the light. I saw that one chick is in the cage outside the nestbox (he is 24 days old). Male was in dhe nest box and I heard loud croack (just like you grab parrot that reaally don't want it). I've never heard it in the nest box, so I didn't know what to do... after maybe 15-20 seconds it went quiet. When i gave the parrents fresh part of food (3 minutes), I wanted to put the chick inside the box again and what I saw scared me a lot!!! 3 of 5 chicks (between 19 and 24 days old) was hurt - two of them have wound just below the eye (!) - and it looks quite serious - and one have little wound on the forehead. For me - they have empty crops (except the youngest)... So: I don't know what happend - parrents had to little food in the night??? father stucked his leg in something in the box (ladder?) ?? And what to do? should I give the parrents time to calm down and see if they will feed chicks? take away the male and libe only mum to care about chicks? tahe the chicks away and feed them?? for now I wiped the wounds with the hydrogen peroxide and put them in the nest box. please help
  8. okay, so he is not opaline, but some degree of opalescense can appear on wings even in normal budgies? Is it normal that this sort of opalescence appear after first moult? I have an impression that its appearing gradually...
  9. Unfortunately breeders in Poland don't care very much about mutations, so i have no idea what mutations his father had :/ But he was sold as violet spangle (not opaline)...
  10. When he was young... now... When he wsa young, i was sure he is just spangle, but now i don,t know
  11. Oh, so my parrot is also spangle opaline? I'm confused, becouse he have blue near markings, but he doesn't have blue color between the wings... But he is opaline?
  12. in second picture I'm talking about bird on the right, not on left I did'n thought about cinnamon, but cinnamon can't wash up body color so much... three birds in last pictures are parrots from erlier pictures, I just wanted to show their wings better
  13. I bought 4 budgies about 1 month ago. Please, tell me if i'm recognising mutations right, and correct me if i'm wrong This is picture took about month ago - after I bought them: And going from left: I'm not sure if she is clearwing or dilute. She have violet factor (purple spot near the shoulders) picture of her taken today: I think, next three parrots are dilute, yellowfaces, and I think they can have grey factor too: The most yellowish budgie (second) (for me: yellowface skyblue grey dilute, but I wonder if she can be lightgreen with grey factor?): Third (for me: yellowface cobalt grey dilute): Fourth (He has quite dark cheek patch so i think - yellowface mauve (and grey?) greywing/dilute): All yellowfaces - budgie in the middle and on right are opaline:
  14. Yesterday I read about violet factor. I didn't know that it's attached to dark factor.. If its so, then when I pair this YF hen with visual violet cock (i suppose SF) I should expect or: 50% visual violets + 50% mauves or: 50% cobalts + 50% violet mauves? I know the genetics of other mutations, I'm just not sure about violet. And - can you give me some links to pictures were i can compare mauve to mauve violet? Is there visible difference between them? (again - here almost nobody know exact mutations of his budgies... --> i will when I'l start to breed them )
  15. this is so great news I want to breed rainbows, and you can't imagine how hard it is here, in Poland... Most breeders have only small idea about mutations :/ When I ask about clear wings, they show me a lot of beautiful... dominant pied or spangles So I learn about mutations from sites wrote in english, and from pictures of parrots (what is hard - sometimes even pictures have wrong description, and colours are little diffrent than in reality) I know one man, who is writing articles about budgie mutations, but when he saw this pictures he said that it's for sure olive... But I wasn't so sure and you say that I may by wright thanks for Your help
  16. and that's what i think - her brother (also on pictures) is mauve, so i think she could be YF2 mauve.
  17. Hi, I have a problem with recognising mutation of one of my parrots I don't know if these pictures are good enough for you, but maybe You can help me. it's her pictures when i bought her (young): when she grown up: and here a give picture of her parrents (this with red corss on them) and some of her brothers and sisters. I'm not sure if her mother is lutino or creamino (if she is creamino, my parrot can't be olive can she?). Owner of this parrots told me that parrents of tha mother (ino) was both blue, but I can't be sure...
