  1. Im confused now LOL. The birds cere looks similar to the one you have showed Kaz but its not a even looking. The other baby from this clutch has a very even pink so I assume one is male and the other female. I'll try to get a better picture.
  2. Hi All, I still cant sex young budgies and I have this one marked by a friend who wants a female. Any ideas ? pics not too clear.
  3. Hi Kaz, Yeah I understand, thanks for the info. Well so far so good, we have 5 bubs now and counting, and yes we have been getting a new one every second day. I just hope there is enough room as being English Budgies they seem to fill up th nest box rather quickly. I did look for infertile eggs but it semed they were all fertile, Mum has moved some eggs to the outside of the box as is not sitting on them so i'll she what she has in mind, I guess five is a handful already. Dad is working really well to ensure everyone is well fed, he is so pedantic about his families - great bird. Anyway thanks again for the great advice, i'll keep it all noted for next time round. Richie.
  4. okay, then i'll have a look then and see if I can notice any infertile eggs. thanks again for the great advice. Richard.
  5. Thanks for that, Interesting about the colour of the eggs. I may just have to see how she goes with them and if the other hen lays soon, I will see then. You never know, she may surprise me this time round. Richard.
  6. Hi KAZ, Thanks for the info. The hen is around 2 yrs I think, but I think she is immature in the mind LOL I havent touched the eggs yet - how can I tell it they are not fertalised ? I have another hen that is paired off, she has been mating but not laid yet. I dont have any other pairs right now. What would you do? Richard.
  7. Hi Guys, I have a pair of Show budgies and this is the hens 3rd clutch (2nd this year) and she has now laid 10 eggs over the past 2 weeks or so ( the first bub hatched today). I think she is a bit immature and she only really can handle 2 - 3 babies so my question is. What should I do to all the eggs ? Can I move them to another nest with a surrgogant mother ? Love to hear your thoughts? Richard.
  8. She did sit like that even on perches though. Oh well not to worry now. Thanks guys.
  9. Hi All, Thanks very much for the welcomes. Sadly I have to report that My little Cinnamon wing, Grey / Green Hen passed away. I'm not sure what was wrong with her. She was fluffed up and sort comfort in the seed dish. I brought her inside and kept her comfortable and gave her some vitamins in the water with view to see the vet first thing the next day. But she didn't make it! She was a funny little bird. From the photo - does anyone think she may have had a deformity due to the way she sits ? Legs a little splayed, very straight back and such. Anyway RIP little one. Also I keep on getting Albino's, every clutch this year has had one albino and a mix of others - how weird is that. heheh Take Care All. Richie
  10. Thanks Kaz, I thought I read here that she can have up to 4 clutches ?? Hmmm She has had five chicks so far - not large clutches. I'll definately be giving her a rest then. Thanks for the info. Richie
  11. Hi All, Here is a better photo of the budgies (without a flash) http://s961.photobucket.com/albums/ae96/ri...abybudgies3.jpg I still have trouble sexing baby budgies so let me know what you think. Bubs are in a new cage now as mum was getting annpoyed with them as she has a new clutch of eggs. This will be her last as its her third and I feel she needs a rest. I tried washing the egg a biscuit stains off when moving them but not a great deal of luck hehehe. Anyway thanks for looking.
  12. Thanks Dave.
  13. Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback. I will try and cover the flash for budgie shots - thanks for the tip. As for the poopy bottom, its not as such. they seem to like sitting in the egg and biscuit mix.
  14. Hi Kaz, I think it was on Auto, is it best to have flash on or off ? I will get a picture of the parents if I can, mum is rarely out of the box these days. Richie
  15. Hi All, Here is some pics of my flock, many are camera shy. Isn't it funny how the budgie you want to photograph knows it and will never stand still. Anyway enjoy! These are a couple of the flock that I could get a picture of. If you can give me some ideas on what the colour variations are, I'd appreciate it as I'm new to budgie breeding. Thanks all, Have a Fantastic New Year! Richie
  16. Hi Everyone, This is my last lot of bubs, any ideas on the sexes ? Thanks Guys!
  17. Hi all, New to this forum, looks great! I just thought I'd ask some advice firstly about one of my baby budgies. The babies are about 6 weeks out of the nest and for some reason I have one evil one that fights with everyone, anyway I woke up this morning and fed them and noticed that one of my other birds was bleeding from the beak, I had a closer look and went to clean her up a bit with warm water and cotton bud, and found out that most of her bottom beak was hanging off and broke off in my hand. She seems to have a large peice on the side and I think a little bit on the other. She is in a seperate cage now and looks quite happy (well as happy as she can be) but I dont think she can eat. Does a broken beak grow back or is this a job for the vet to put to sleep. The problem is this is my 3 year old son's bird, he held her when she first came from the nest and he named her "Birdy" Look forward to your insight, Richie.
