Thank you for the info and the pics.I inherited the birds and the cage as is. It came with the box inside the cage.I dont know what colony breeding is. I will check out the color of the eggs.None of the birds that i have (3) have the distinct blue beaks that i have read about.

I am not a breeder but there have been about 5 or 6 eggs in the box for over a month now.Should i throw them out.I hardly ever see the bird come out (only to eat)and then it goes back in the box.There is one cracked egg. PLease help

Hi and welcome answer to your question is easy.....You are colony breeding and there is fighting over possession of the nestboxes. You will have deaths of birds and smashed eggs and dead chicks. You have chosen the hardest way to try and breed budgies. Hello Kaz,thanks for your reply.I dont know what colony breeding is and i am not a budgie breeder.The cage was given to me with boxes allready in there.I think there is now one male and two females.Came home today and another egg cracked with yolk everywhere hi, thanks for the info. Hello, i am a new member and have a few questions.I inherited 4 budgies about 6 months ago and i am enjoying them immensely.I am clueless with regards to the sex of them.There are 5 eggs in one of the nesting boxes and every now and then i find some on the bottom of the cage and they are cracked. Also the birds have been fighting and i found a dead one yesterday. Very sad. Can someone please enlighten me on why this is happening
