Colours range from Violet through mauve to light grey as this point. Some ready for kindy some still need Dad, moved hens out as one started to lay again. Last time that happened she attacked last chicks in nestbox, thought I wouldn't take chance this time.

Sweet Corn
Mine would kill for corn also. I just cut it into 3 pieces and put into a hanging bowl I have in flight and stand back. It's the only thing they don't toss onto the ground out of it. It never last's long. When they get every last kernal off, then they throw it down and play with dried cob pieces very funny to watch them.

The Rest Of My Flock
Hi, some pretty birds there. If you have trouble with rats, you would have to trap or poison them, without your birds getting to bait or traps. They would also eat any eggs or attack chicks in nests as well. Prevention is the best cure they say. Good luck with some chicks shortly.

Right Time To Move Chicks Into The Aviary?
Hi rjt, I have put chicks out in aviary about the age of yours. If your cage isn't very big in laundry and they are all fully feeding etc I think I'd give it a try. I would try non- breeding pair in aviary first, then add chicks they will be able to start flying and you can keep check on them. I usually hunt my adults out into flight for a while, a few days before releasing chicks into aviary and let chicks have a fly in aviary on their own for an hour or so each day. Then I put them in with adults and watch to see none get into trouble I haven't had any problems, so far, they seem to find seed water etc in very short time. Plus by having the non-breeder pair in it's a case of " monkey see monkey do". If they are only in with one other pair I think they would soon learn the ropes.

The Relation Between The Body Size Of A Hen & Breeding
Lovely birds Hans, just wondering if being splayed would have any affect on her laying eggs if her hip isn't right? Maybe someone would know. Please add future posts to tell us how she went. cheers:P

New Bubs
Thanks A.B & G.B, G.B. thanks for your info. have copied first bit for future ref. REST IS SO FAR OVER MY HEAD ....... don't know when I'll get it sorted. BUT these 4 are keepers for sure. Love the pieds. Thank's Kaz but don't worry I can get confused between anything..I keep reading over "stuff" but it's the grey matter that has the trouble. Thank you Dellouisa, as mine are pet types I'm not trying to breed anything in particular, just some lovely birds to have in aviary.

New Bubs
Update pics of previous chicks. (second nest chicks) front and back. I think these should be clearflight NOT clearwing. Just trying to decide their mutations. The bird on RIGHT of picture is DAD. Mum is skyblue opaline spangle.(not shown) P.S. MUM IS SKYBLUE AT BACK OF picture 3.

New Bubs
Adding another nest of chicks, unfortunately I could not keep all so sold ones that were very similar only "keeping one of a kind" so I have a variety in my birds.

Hormone Problem, Again?
Thank's Dean & Sunnie, We've got 4 now one more due today, in my case he wasn't showing any interest in the "girls" at all. He was just sitting, preening, eating and that was it. I paired him up just to see the result. Maybe he just plays hard to get. l.o.l. Really glad I did now, he bred beautiful soft coloured opaline chicks last time. He was with sky normal last time now with hen in picture. waiting to see this clutch feather up. I did mention he had just moulted when his cere was brown. Does anyone know if hormones go haywire at moulting and if that could be the reason?

Hormone Problem, Again?
