Do You Name All Your Budgies
Hi, I am an avid reader of the forums, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I read the names each of you call your budgies. What I am wondering, is for those that have big aviaries etc, with many many budgies....do you name all of them, or just special ones? I can't even imagine an aviary with 50 or so birds, each with a name, my memory would let me down badly!! So do they all get names? Robyn & Harry

Food Variety
I've also had problems getting 'Harry' to eat anything other than food & gum leaves. I have persevered with the boiled egg, grated carrot, peas, corn, alternating, mixing it all together, and he has had no real interest at all. He may nibble a bit at it, but basically ignores it, doesn't even pick it out & throw it on the floor of the cage! After reading through the nutrition forums again, I bought some endive, bokchoy & some broccoli, shredded it all up, mixed it together, and thought here we go again....and voila to my surprise he dug right in! A lot did end up on the floor of the cage, but that I think is because the little feed container I have is too small, I will get another on the weekend. This morning before I left for work, I mixed some egg in with it, and I noticed he was eating the egg too. My advice (for what it's worth), is persevere, this has taken approximately 4 weeks to tantalise his taste buds, and I am soooooooo happy, and I hope Harry is too! Robyn

An Eating Machine!
Friends and family are already saying this is the most spoilt creature on earth...I seriously doubt that, but I'll get a few of those, will be good to interchange with the other stuff, for variety. I bought a corn cob, sliced a ring of it, and put it on a skewer, but he hasn't touched it. I took it out after 24 hours, put in another, still nothing. I will keep doing itt, but I think the leaves & grasses, must tempt his taste buds more, I'll experiment with some other things on the list, and hopefully something else will be a temptation for him.

An Eating Machine!
Thank you, I have noticed that he was using the branches I tied together to climb up, and I will change the wool to some thin cotton rope I have, and it's a great idea drilling some holes in the branches, will do that also. I truly appreciate everyone's advice they have given me, you are all very patient and kind. Robyn

An Eating Machine!
Thank you, that eases my mind a lot, and I will definitely try your suggestions. I did rinse the grasses and branch before giving them to him, as that was the advice from the forums I read. I appreciate all the advice, again, thankyou!

An Eating Machine!
Hello, I'm just wondering, I have tried Harry on vegies and or fruit, but he just isn't interested, so after reading through the forums, went for a walk this morning, and gathered up grasses and some eucalypt branch with leaves and flowers. I tied it all in a bunch with some wool, and put it in his cage, and after about 10 mins, he was at it, and basically he has munched on and off all day. My question here is, it is obviously a big hit, but can he eat too much? Should I now remove it from his cage? I don't want to find him keeled over from pigging out!

Is Harry Male Or Female?
Thank you all very much for your responses, and your kind words, I never knew having a budgie for a pet could be so pleasurable! Robyn

Is Harry Male Or Female?
Sorry it took so long, my photography skills bundled with Harry being camera shy is challenging. Hope this is what you want. He won't let me touch him, he travels around on a stick, jumps on quite happily, while I take him out of the cage, but my hand freaks him out, so I just use the stick. - Robyn

Is Harry Male Or Female?
Hi there...as you can see, this is my first post, these forums have been invaluable to me, as a first time owner of a budgie, in fact, any pet at all! I called my budgie Harry, but am unsure what sex he/she is, can anyone shed any light please? I have had Harry about 6 six weeks now, and not sure of his/her age either. I have had him/her six weeks now and every day spend some time trying to get him/her used to me, not very successfully, Harry still turns his/her back to me when I get close, but I am sure we will get there! Thankyou Robyn http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt2/RJT.../HarryFront.jpg
