  1. Around 8 hours? Does this make any difference with the regurgitating whether he is covered for more hours or not?Other than this habbit of his lately, he is a normal happy budgie - although I know this is normal if he is sick. Another question, I am wanting to get him a mate - how old should the new budgie be? Gorgeous is really tame and sits on my shoulder most of the day (I work from home) so will getting another budgie make him less tame? Should I spend a lot of time with the new budgie before they sleep together at night so the new one becomes tame?Increasing darkness hours can help reduce such hormonal problems... As to getting another budgie... There are a few posts about it around at the moment (Hill's topic)... also, check out this article. It should answer some of your questions...Interesting! Well I will try and increase his sleeping time. Does it matter he is this "hormonal" or does it need to be toned down a bit? He has always loved shiny things cause he has no friend so thinks his friend is inside the shiny thing...! Is it not good for him to play with the bell and things all the time? What toys would I give him inside his cage then? I just bought a new baby yesterday! It is weird - Gorgeous is a lot smaller than the new budgie - I read up and think he is English and the new baby is American - is this right?I have the baby in a separate cage and I am getting both of them checked out at the vet on wed. When I asked how long should they be in separate cages she said 1 week but I have read up and they say 1 month? The baby is really frustrated and always trying to get to Gorgeous - is a week okay specially if I get them checked out? The baby did sneeze on me yesterday and it was wet (then again Gorgeous sneezed everyday for 2 years and nothing was ever wrong). Or should I play it safe and give Gorgeous an early xmas present on the 23rd of Dec? I guess he is lonely and misses his flock. Also he seems a bit silly and nearly hangs himself on things and squeezes him self through holes in his toys that he can't get out of...what toys would you recommend? I'm afraid he's going to kill himself, I work from home but can't keen an eye on him 24/7.I noticed something else - when the baby was in his cage and Gorgeous was in his they came close (but not touching) and the baby had his mouth open - he is eating but do you think he is quite young and needs to be with Gorgeous to feed him?He does make these cute little squeeking sounds which are adorable! Guess he will grow out of that :(Thanks in advance for any advice!

  3. Hey, thanks for your reply. I had a listen to him when I had him out just before and there isn't any clicking sounds or any other sounds at all. I hate taking his toys away from him cause he gets really sad and starts looking for them! But I will do it tomorrow and see if it stops. Is it uncommon for them to regurgitate but not actually spit it out? Every other budgie seems to but he just seems to eat it or something afterwards. Thanks!
  4. Hi, Am not sure if I should take my budgie to the vet or not - he is about 3 years old and recently I've noticed him regurgitating a lot but nothing is actually coming out, it's like he is just eating it again? He doesn't have a mate but instead is in love with his bell! He has done frequently over the past couple of years but just recently I have noticed he is doing it a lot more and is licking his mouth more after he has done it like moving his beak up and down as if between eating and grinding his beak (sorry this is really hard to explain!). If someone could let me know why Gorgeous could be doing this and whether he is just coming up to mating season or if he is sick and I should get him checked out, could it be internal mites? I live in NZ and it is starting to be summer here so don't know if that has something to do with it. He does it when he's at his bell and his plastic budgie head - haven't noticed him doing it anywhere else but will keep an eye out. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Tasha
