  4. quickly runs out to aviary and removes the deep bowl she placed in aviary for birds to bath in earlyer this arvo this is good advice something that would be over looked by me not now you forget birds can not fly when wet and my bath could be deadly in dark of night thanks reene
  5. welcome and your not outed lol as i have no clue who you could be no classes were mentioned just placings so your still safe um chookbreeder is that as your birds are size of chooks welcome again and i hope you contribute to our forum as so us new breeders to showing can learn the tricks of trade its hard competition out their and no one to teach the do's and donts makes it harder sometimes joining a club does not give you the suport or valued advice expected or should i say wanted and needed leaving us to try and source info else where such as here the more imput and ideas lessons to learn the better and if you more successful breeders are willing to help then i for one am so more appreciative of you all i have lernt many things on here from many people of all breeding statis mistakes and successes and encourage you to please share when ever you can even the smallest things help small breeders like myself
  6. thats the difference between breeding for profit and breeding for enjoyment and challenge we are lucky in this country we have things alot easyer i am not condoning the breeding of budgies at such young ages and they are way to young nor do i condole the breeding of birds in such a manner the birds clearly have no were to fly perch to perch and in my veiw this is very cruel but thats me i want to thank you for posting these pics as it shows us what the mass production of birds and how it is set up really is like i always wondered what a bird factory looked like and now i know birds lay better after a year old they lay more eggs to a clutch and they also feed the young better if you just tryed this with even just a few birds you would see im right you would benefit more in profit as you would produces more chicks bigger and healthier due to the mum and dad feeding better and your birds would benefit in health i understand you need to breed them as for demand but you would have more birds if you did wait the extra time i did see some boxes closed off and they were pretty clean so you must look after them why not go one more step and let the birds mature a bit longer as the benefits are and will over ride the bit of cash flow you may lose in between you could try it with some birds and when you see the good results you could slowly change your whole breeding colony to being the desired age as i said benefiting you and your birds again thanks for sharing you have some lovely birds i would also add another perch for them to fly across to keep their wings exicized toughs perches are good idea by way easy to take out and clean well hope you at least think about letting just a few birds maturer to 1 year at least 10 months if you can do that then at least they will be 11 months when they lay after pairing and 12 when raissing the hatched chicks
  7. great post splat back to what this sights all about showing and teaching did it take long for one by way excellent job pat yourself on back

  13. 10 12 same same still very young and not molted that being my point so it is agreed
  14. okay now i will say my part nev is closest in the fact that the mutations are all spot one exept i agree with who ever it was that said cielito was type two and i yellow face the colours nev said are in my opinion spot on the the violet gf cock you can see he has an emerald green look to him kind of olive mossy look thats dead give away a gf bird is violet i would go with nevs advice
  15. these being rezults you wanted kaz or no ?
  16. that would be great daz cheers
  17. no dave you are wrong you get cinn grey wings thats why you should not pair grey wings to cinnamon the birds can not b showed as grey wing and make bad cinnamons so....they are seperate loci, alelle is very close though you are corect you do get them though dave
  18. i agree they are beautiful as for mutations i will let others answer that
  19. okay i think myself that she is as follows spangled australian banded pied in violet nothing more nothing less oh i i dont think she is more than say 10 weeks old or daz did a post a bit back with a little rec pied spangle hen this is the thing she looks banded but i trully think she is rececive but cause that picture shows she is young im saying banded but if she does not get iris rings in 6 months time she has to be a rececive pied i dont care what anyone says
  20. thank you all chicks will be for sale with these birds except one from each clutch depending if i get the out come im hopeing for mabe they will all go who knows time will tell
  21. Do you mean she is GOLD ring ? If so GOLD is 2006 making her only three this year.Black is 2008, green 2007, gold 2006. Ah, I see where I went wrong.Still, i am not sure she will get another crack at it. What are you talking about? Who is Bob? thats funny as lol i have a presence i call bob but im sure thats got nothing to do with it lol also 3 year old is in her prime so i was to belive depending on bird and how much she has been bred 5 is the retire age if bird running badley each bird is diffrent some retire earley due to not being able to hold condition and hard molt weird shaped eggs less eggs infirtle eggs list goes on me i just go on each bird and her capabilitys mind you my birds are all young so.....
  22. i would say same as elly if i could see her but her eyes dont seem to have rings which means a ) she is not a dom and a heavy marked full wing marked spangle opaline rec pie or that she is very young not near 6 months so... im not saying anything defenant till i get better look and im only guessing opaline may be just spangle winging ???? she is a classic marked dom though in looks
  23. nice chicks what ever the heritage
