  1. HEheheh pressures on! (By The Way ill be working saturday).... now im really worried what you guys are gonna say about the shop :S
  2. The first pictures dont work anymore?
  3. YAY! *jumps up and down excitedly!* Its a place called Fantastic Pets in Narre Warren (next to bunnings)
  4. The problem i have with moving the cage is that he should choose the us OVER the cage. If we move his cage he has no choice but to be with us and thats not something I wanna teach him.... Does this make sense??? So i dont know what to do
  5. Both budgies that I have had at random times have diplayed this behaviour. Its like they are taking a very long yawn, but then repead it a few time in a row. It looks like he is trying to open his wind pipe or he has something stuck in his throught. But he doesnt. Like i am sitting here and birdo is just settling down into bed and he does it. Sometimes it will be in the middle of the day!? I dont get it. I presume this happens to others too. ALSO Ive had Rook for a few weeks now and he just will not come out of his cage! To get him out I have to corner him (well not corner but he will walk to the far end of the perch), and touch his tummie before he steps up. But he will try and jump off my finger on the way out. He isnt scared of our hands or anything, its like he is just so scared of coming out of his cage. When we can get him out (if he hasnt jumped back onto the perch already), he is so focused on the cage and wont really settle outside of his cage. When we talk to him he is always blinking at us and stuff and seems to enjoy it when we talk to him. And he will jump on our fingers or out of the cage if we have millet, otherwise he just doesnt want to budge from his cage. My last bird was desperate to get out of his cage and spend time with us. How can i get him to love us and want to be near us. I just feel like he is never going to bond with us... Thanks in advance! Jessie
  6. Thanks! *libby*: Should i not breed her still?
  7. BAHAHHA Never heard them called "beanies" before... TOOO CUTE! I also love the blue and yellow pied colours birds. I fancy the pieds heaps!
  8. I havent decided on names yet, but im thinking dargo - cock (aboriginal for waiting with patience) and darnum - hen (aboriginal for parrot). *libby*: her iris ring is as prominant as the cocks, its just the picture. She has laid before while she was in our shop. She hatched 2 at one stage but they didnt survive. I dont know how old she is but she looks well over a year old. She has been in our store for 6 months or so and when she came in she looked the same - breeding condition cere, white iris etc etc.
  9. Thanks guys! (yay AV, we are learning hehehe)
  10. He says its nine months old. It looks like a baby cock or a hen not in breeding condition. But it doesnt have any cream/white circles around the cere hole? Help?
  11. hehehe we have started something now. Maybe there should be an FAQ about the different types of budgies with pictures. (unless there already is one heheh)
  12. To give you an idea on bush budgie size, my hen is about 22 grams (shes a little underweight), and the male is 25-27 grams (he is in good condition). These weights would be super small even for a normal captive australian budgie. here is a picture as well. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p40/jwa.../P1000742-1.jpg
  13. Rook on his play pen.

  20. Libby: That video is amazing! How did you do that? TEACH ME TEACH ME! lol.
  21. I thought about moving his cage when he is out with us, but then is that forcing him to be wit us. Id like him to choose us over the cage... This bird is making me learn ALOT ( i guess its always a good thing)aaron:The clicker is like a bridge between the behaviour and the food reward. Its signals the exact second the bird does something right.http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bird-Click/ is a site all about clicker training for birds. Its by the lady that wrote the book (which i learnt from) "clicker training for birds"
  22. I cant wait to see this for myself! cross fingers
  23. This is Rookie, my new baby boy: Baby McKenzie (RIP) sleeping: Sleeping on mummy: Again: Scratches from mummy: MY NEW BUSH BUDGIES! YAY The little Mumma (no name yet, any suggestions?): The little dad (also no name): The both of them: Wide view of their new home in my room: ENJOY! :hap:
  24. Neat: I have Rookie out in the lounge room in his cage with stand and the bushies are in a breeding box on my table in my room. This will keep them at a nice warm constant temp, and its reletively quiet in there. I do worry about them not getting enough vitamin D. Ive been reading through sooo much stuff on this site that I dont rember half of what I have read. Hehe. But did I read that cod liver oil is a source of Vitamin D? Sailorwolf: My course is pretty much an Animal Science degree. SO its everything else to do with animals except being a Vet. I just dont have the brains or patience to be a Vet. But if they had an apprentiship in Veterinary Science I would rock at it. Thk: I cant take the all te credit for Maks good training. He was hand reared so he was very friendly to start off with. And he picked up stuff really really quickly. He was the smart one. I am struggling with to train Rook. Its like he is so focused on his cage and thats all he wants. He couldnt careless about the rest of us. I guess we will see how it goes. Ive also added some pictures in the Budgie pictres section. Cheak em out ;D Jessie xoox
