11 Nov 1918 was the end of WW1 when the German Forces signed the Armistance which was effectively a ceasefire. The signing of the Treaty of Versialles occured in 1919 which formalised the end of the hostilities. Despite the stupidity exhibited by war monger nations in WW1 where millions of people were killed, we had to line up a second time 20 years later to do it again. Worse still there are countires out there still behaving in an agressive pugnatious manner. There are no winners in war. LEST WE FORGET the poor individuals that are sent off to fight them and die fo the most gallant cause there is... for their country.
  5. I dont know and cant even help, they all lok very nice to me!

  7. What a gem! It looks like he is enjoying himself !!
  8. Thanks for your responses I can see that these types are very visually striking birds. I cant wait to go and get the right combination of birds to breed this effect.
  9. Sorry to hear about your loss
  10. I have been surfing through the forums and have seen varuos references to the Pastel mutation. I have also seen reference to rainbow budgies. I would love to know more about these types of mutation. What types of birds to you need to breed together to achieve pastels and Rainbows? What catergory do they compete in at competition? Do they ever win 'top bird'.
  11. Neat, thanks for the refresher on E Bay policy, my personal opnion aside with regards to this policy as it is irrelevant. After all that is their policy and at the end of the day if it not allowed, then it is not allowed. However in saying this, I would suggest though that just because E Bay does not allow their users to sell birds on ebay does not mean that it is wrong or a bad thing to do. Unfortunatley most pets these days are brought and sold to make a quick buck by some people. I think that my efforts would go towards identifying breeders that breed to sell their stock as pets in order to make a quick buck. I wonder how many so called breeders there are out there are breeding their birds to death by continusly breeding them? Breeders that do this should not be allowed to keep any animals as pets and should be dealt with by the RSPCA and face criminal charges.
  12. Very nice dave. I am impressed

    Very Nice!
  15. If E Bay is an online Auction, what is the difference between that and an Auction run by a club (apart from the online electronic bit)? E Bay might not allow it, but really what is so bad about it? pets and animal are bought at auctions all the time.. albeit an online auction in this case. Don't get me wrong, I still think that we need to make sure that the birds go to good homes, Just wondering what all the fuss is about..
  16. I am considering the prospect of showing budgies. I am absolutley set in the idea of breeding colours and mutations that I find intersting, but I am not sure that I want to get involved in showing budgies as I dont know if it is for me. To be perfectly honest, I am not unsure that what I have seen as show qaulity are attractive birds. I have two young kids 2 and 9 Months and work a very busy job that keeps me at work most of the day. Therefore I do not have a lot of time on a daily basis to share. How much time each day do I need to spend in developing my budgies to show standard? How does this differ from being a recreational breeder in the backyard? Are budgie clubs just a boys clubs who promote the in crowd or do they work differently? Any advice or experience that that you can offer is greatly appreciated?
  17. Sorry now I am confused. There is a St George branch and there is the Macarthur branch is that the same as the West Sydney branch? Thanks Geof
  18. Not far from the shops myself!!! I am off Australis. I might go and have a look at the Club at St George, 19 Sep 08. Would be intersted to maybe chat prior to the event and share transport(if you are interested and believe me when I say I am not an axe murderer).. Geoff

  20. Hi, I am a newbie from Sydney and I am keen to start breeding and exhibiting budgies. I have surfed the www and have found information regarding Auctions that take place. I am wondering how much I would expect to pay for budgies to commence breeding in the novice section. I am sure that there a myriad of variable affecting the price, but some general advice would be handy. Also how much do the top budgies go for? I think that the enjoyable aspects would be improving your stock by slective breeding and not just throwing money at top birds. but an idea of the cost for the top birds would be nice to know. Thanks in advance Geoff
