  1. thanks everyone for such great advice I'll try and keep you posted on their progress. this is such a nice site, wish I had found it sooner than yesterday :hap:
  2. thanks elly, Pretty has such lovely markings and colouring on him, and your present budgie Merlin is so cute, he looks like he's inquisitive over investigating the camera there
  3. thanks elly I think unfortunately and as much as it breaks my heart that I'll have to give him away... I don't think that I will be able to kept them seperate for so long and give them both all the attention they need. Lemondrop I keep in my bedroom and bring the cage with me where ever I go in the house (therfore she gets a lot of attention) but it will be harder for me to give that same attention to Rabsey as I don't want to move his cage around, as he would get quite flustered and stressed and it wouldn't be possible for me to stay in the hall all day where he is at present while seperated. I'll try another couple of months and see if he is any tamer. usually I feed him first and them fill up his food tray every morning and will change his water, talkin away to him, then stop by every chance I get during the day and again change his water in the evening and spend another 10 minutes with him. thanks again for the post and I'll check out that taming post you put up thanks dee
  4. I'm not quie sure because I bought him at the pet store, but his cere was a pinkish colour and is starting to turn a blue colour, so I presume he was youngish. here's a picture before I had to put him back into his cage This is my other budgie Lemondrop She's over two but again I can't tell exactly because I got her in a pet store also.

  7. hey everybody I've just joined up and am totally new to this, but anyways my dilemma is : I bought a new budgie "Rabsey" and he is so much more nervous than my other trained budgie of 2yrs "Lemondrop". I like to leave the cage door open for Lemondrop so she can fly around the room and get into loads of mischief, and after the two budgies got used to each other I decided to leave Rabseys cage door open too, so he could also have the same liberties as lemondrop. As soon as I did this Lemondrop completely ignored me and she would get really destructive and really wasn't behaving like her normal self. I decided the only chance I would have to train both, was to separate them for a while and then reunite them when I have them fully trained. Lemondrop is now back to normal but I'm really struggling to train in Rabsey. I know every bird has a different personality but he is just so nervous and I'm worried am I wasting my time as if he can't be trained in I will have to give him away as there is no possible way I could kept them separated permenantly. I've been trying to train him for 16 weeks now but seems to be to no avail as he flaps around the cage when I even replenish his water. If he is hungry he might eat some millet I push through the cage or hang off the side of the cage to eat some seed out of my hand (If I leave it there for 10 minutes with out moving) but he won't stand on my hand maybe he doens't like the heat sensation... I dont know... Could anybody let me know whether I'm wasting time or will I ever be able to train him? Lemondrop was almost trained in two weeks. thanks dee
