Heavy Breathing At Night?
he has an overactive imagination. The bird got a little excited and now shes fine. She may lay in the next couple of days, it's only her first. But he is in trouble. If some of you remember i had a bunch of birds for sale. I had a couple of people interested, i had even arranged transport, and then yesterday he went and sold all bar one pair, which amiee hid, to some guy for $10 each, while i was at work mind you, even my keepers. which is why there was trouble yesterday with the hen, they took her cock bird out and then when amiee hid them, she just grabbed the first cock bird she could and the hen didn't appreciate it very much, she told sean about an hour after the guy had left, and that was when he noticed. If she hasn't settled completly by tomorrow i will take her to her vet just for a checkup. Thank you all for try to help him yesterday.

Heavy Breathing At Night?
Morning all. Trish is due home in about 15 mins, the budgies condition hasn't changed, took the light off her, she started huffing and puffing and amiee (my daughter) said that "she was getting to hot and that if i fried her before tricia got to see her, then she really will kill me". Heres hoping she pulls through, and thankyou for all your help last night Sean

Heavy Breathing At Night?
i called her just to ask a general question, and she says she doesn't have any calcivet. She immediately demanded to know what was going wrong. I told her i was just chatting. She's gonna be peaved when she gets home, but if i told her she would have left work then and there. Do you buy calcivet from petshops or from vets? Hopefully she'll make it through the night, cause we've just found out that there is an avian vet 20mins away, so i'll take her tomorrow.

Heavy Breathing At Night?
Hi. i have a hen here belongs to my gf, i saw her earlier today and she was breathing kinda heavy, she was sitting back on the perch and her vent was contracting(?) i suppose you could say, i thought she may have been going to lay, but no egg and it's nearly 9pm. I was wondering what to do with her. I have her in a hospital cage, and she's marching around wanting to get out, and i really need to be able to tell trish whats going on when she gets home, cause i'm already kinda in some trouble, and she has enough on her plate. HELP HELP HELP Thanks Sean oh. i have some sulpha quin here, should i give her some? How do i make her drink it?

My First
why do people call bay horses brown?or red dogs blue? It's just what is. Just like a koala isn't a bear but its a koala bear well it's sounds better then big budgies and show budgies is to hob nobby, especially for me as a beginner. But all of that is something we can differ about in a post another time. Right now i'm to excited to start a debate. I HAVE A BABY BUDGIE and its one pink blob of cuteness!! They will be just beautiful looking at mum and dad!Thank you. thats a very nice thing to say. I really hope it looks like him, but a girl.

My First
Hi. i was colony breeding to begin with, but that was just because i didn't have anythink else set up. But now i have all my english breeders in their seperate boxes, which only leave some spare boys, 08 birds, 2 pairs of normals,a grey english pair with 3 eggs and still laying (gonna have to find them a box to) and four cockateils. Plus i think i may have found the problem bird. She had one egg then it got destroyed, the i thought she was egg bound, but i wasn't sure so i just kept putting off taking her out and then she laid and i fostered the egg under another hen, which now has 6 eggs, four lutino X green ( her own), a grey X grey peid(out of the aviary), and the ressesiveX green and hopefully i'll get some more of her before she destroys them. I'm gonna try to post some pics of mum, dad and babe. Can i have some suggestions as to what the color might be? http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f56/Miss...45/a686a1fa.jpg babe photo's aren't very good. sorry, it doesn't look like much more than a pink blob. I only took these photo's today so they're fresh. the first 2 pictures - I removed because they were oversized and you couldn't see anything, and the 3rd picture I turned into a link because it was oversized

My First
I just went and had a look in one of my boxes and i am now a grandmother. How cool is that. It's out of two of my aussie budgies(i think) it's their second nest( the first was destroyed). I didn't even know that she had been sitting this long. It is sooooooooo cool. I wonder what color it will be. i am so excited

Beak Much!
vet friend had a look and said that it needs to be reshaped, due to lack of something in her early childhood the beak just hasn't formed properly. Not a worry. said to leave her till next year and breed her to a spare cock bird and he (vet friend) will incubate and raise the chicks. He recons everything will be okay and maybe once her beak has fully reshaped she might even be able to sit her own eggs. She is a little overweight at the moment though, which is why he said to wait till next year to breed her.

Beak Much!
I wasn't gonna let her hatch them just breed and lay, I can foster the eggs. She's in top shape aside from the beak. No scaly face. Just the beak thing. I'll contact a pro and find out whats what and how much money they're gonna take me for. Thanks guys

Beak Much!
can i fix this and if so how? She is an "08" bird that was just given to me. Will it affect her in breeding if i decide to use her? You can see ( well i can when i'm holding her) that the bottom beak is there. it's just the top thats the problem.

Retiring A Breeding Budgie
good luck with the bubs, but i have to disagree about the parents. mum used to breed budgies about 30 yrs ago and she tried to stop one pair breeding by taking out the boxes and the hen ended up laying on the ground in a hole she dug, which was hidden in the far back corner and then she actually managed to hach them. if they're desperate enough they'll do anything.

Breeding? My First Time
Hi. this is probabaly already covered somewhere but i was about to leave for work when i remembered i wanted to ask you this. does it matter what color you breed to what color? Like, is it best to breed them by color or just any color-best birds? because i have all different colors and i'm going to start separating everyone. Ahh thats another thing. Do they breed better if all the males are in one cage, the females in another, and then you put pairs together after awhile? because i know with my chooks, if everyone was pened together and you just put the pairs in a separate pen straight out of the group, fertility and mating would be low, but if you separated the roosters away from the hens for a couple of weeks, but left them within view, i suppose sort of like teasing them, it would increase the fertility ratio immensly and would make the boys more "randy" thanks for all your help

Colors?
no they're not always like that. it was just the way the male landed on the perch. When he landed he nearly knocked the female off. She wasn't happy. All my white ones have red eyes. Same as my yellow ones. are they're any other colors that have red eyes? I think she WAS egg bound, before i got her and i didn't realise till i got her home. i had a chook once that was egg bound, and she would croutch down and try to push it out, but this bird is just flying around like normal, but she has that lump and the base which makes me think she was. The big problem i have is with the eggbound and runners i bought them from a reputable pet man and he didn't tell me :hap: Which yellow one? the yellow yellow or the green yellow. ( the one on the floor or the one on the perch)? Are bugies meant to have blue eyes or brown eyes? Because i have both?

Colors?
she is twice the size of and he is the only bird i have that is anywhere near her size that hasn't already paired up. will that affect them in breeding? i think he is the cutest little boy and she is the cutest little girl. ( whats "cinny") or at least i think it's a girl you said this hen is an albino. she looks like she has been egg bound at some stage. Should the swelling have gone down? and will that affect her if i try to breed with her? Runners? Are they a variety or is it a disease? okay now i was told the blue pied was a runner, but he can sort of fly and he doesn't look that old, or he can fly better than the yellow ones. Is there anyway to tell at the moment if they're runners or if they're just growing their feathers through, because i think they're only young, cause they still have that baby face look.
