  2. Yeah he's doing awesome but when when I got home on sunday I noticed that his tail feathers have gone brown at the end and on the ends of his wings and they look a little bit ratty. I don't know what this means.
  3. Hey it's me Marlo and Charlie, Just wanted to give you an update on my baby boy.Well Charlie survived his first summer of 40+ degrees. Charlie is a funny little guy, he's started to say words like... what ya doing.. he'll say his name his wolf whistle has improved. We figured out why Charlie wouldnt talk! When he had his bells he could see something and didn't know what it was so he sat there kissing the bell and chirping away at this funny looking reflection.Charlie has also started to kiss me mum and my older sister. Bye Marlo and Charlie
  4. Charlie has had new toys and loves them! he will hang upside down swing around. he'll hang upside down on his swing and will swing around in cirlces!LoL. Can budgies get dizzy? Also he'll be on the bottom of his cage and he will run around like mad!LOL!!!! Also charlie is definately a boy! I know that because ha can half wolf whistle and he meows also he'll make kissing noises!!! I have a concern about my baby boy! Everytime I pick him up it sounds like he's sneazing and whenever you go near him he makes the noise! Should I be worried? From Marlo and Charlie
  5. Hi Sorry I haven't been able to reply I have been tyed up with a massive project. Charlie is doing great he isn't making much noise, he is still really playful!and he is still boney but I think that is because he is so active!!LOL!!Well thanks for the food tips the trill is doing great but we still haven't tried the cockateil seed yet because it costs to much money.. Marlo
  6. The home brand seed has got the red and orange colours in the mix of seed. The seed also has some flakey bits in it that are really smoothe and make your fingers really smoothe and funny so I'm deffinatley not going to buy it again.
  7. Well charlie is about 8 weeks I think. We have only just got him fruit. We feed him apples. Also what other fruits can you give birds?
  8. My mum said once the home brand runs out we will go back to the trill. what is the best stuff to feed baby budgies?
  9. Well, Charlie is always full of energy!!LOL!! We feed him the home brand of food. But we have lately notice that he is picking at his food not eating it!He is eating his food but not much of it!! His poos are a light green with the white dot in the middle. I'm not sure what the sndwich maker is made of. I will tell you when I ask my mum.
  10. Well everyone, Charlie has been fine mum said and if he gets worse I will try the Bepanthen. We haven't dunked his feet in the cool water. Mum had a look at his last night and they don't look to bad!!! Which is good but I will keep you updated on how he is going!!
  11. How do you bathe a budgies feet?
  12. Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right spot. Today I let Charlie out to show some friends. My older sisiter had a sandwich maker on and STUPID me didn't put him back in the cage instead I let him fly around . The people I was showing him to were only young and started chasing him as I was trying to get him back in his cage because he was scaring my older sister ( she hates birds!!). He got really scared and landed on the sandwich maker!!! Once he landed on it he flew staight off and landed on the table and started picking it his feet ( mum and I have noticed this before but he was really stuck into them). Once I caught him I put him back in his cage and he started making a really loud noice ( screaching and chirping). When mum got home I told her what happened and she pulled him out and had a look at him to see if he was badly burnt. He didn't look to badly burnt. While mum was looking at him she noticed his chest was still really boney and he doesn't have much flesh on him. Anyway, When mum was looking at him I noticed that some of his tail feathers were a little brown from landing on the sandwich maker. When Charlie landed on the sandwich maker as I said he flew off and landed on the table I caught him and as I picked him up he started screaching when he walked up my arm. Now I am really worried about him because we can't tell how bad he was burnt!!! Should I take him to the vet and get him checked out? Marlo
  13. Thank you so much Maesie!!!!! Now I know how to keep my baby bird safe from the household toxins and everything else!!!! Thanks once again!!!
  14. Oh okay, How can you tell wheather it is budgie friendly? What sort of rope do you use? the plastic sort or the other kind?
  15. All I can say is WOW!!!!! That is really good!! I wish I had stuff like that to build a ply gym. I will have to go to our local hardware and buy stuff. What stuff did you use maesie?
  16. Yes he is a bit of mess maker!! LOL!! only because he stands in his food!!!
  17. Oh! Millet Sprays! We've got some of them here but havent opened them yet, I'll give your suggestion a try!! The husks wont matter coz I'll just let mum clean it up! LOL Hehe... perhaps it isn't such a good idea then! It IS hard to teach a budgie to clean up after themselves!!!!! I suppose it is hard!! LoL!! Wouldn't it be lovely to teach them to clean up after themselves!! LOL !! I will try you idea and if he makes a mess then mum can clean it up for me!!! LOL
  18. Well CaspersRose it isn't a very good idea to have the food on the desk because he stands in his food and makes a huge mess!!!
  19. Well Neat I can't have charlie sit on my shoulder anymore because he will fly off!!!!!!! which is really upsetting!!!!! But anyway how can I get charlie to stay put?
  20. Thanks Liv I think his wings are fine too. Well we have not had time to go to the shops. Also I can't play with him much because I'm stuck with this massive project on the olympics !!! It is driving me mad!!!!!
  21. My mum is going to post a comment for me.Hi everyone. Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to Marlo. She is sooooo excited about having a budgie, she's wanted one for a long time! When I came across this site the other day I knew it would be a great place for her to be able to chat to other ppl and learn what she needs to know about budgies. I rang the lady tonight that we got him from (I'll refer to Charlie as a 'he'). She said he was about 6-7 weeks old and had been out of the nest for a few days, she's not sure exactly how long he was out but she said she watched him and saw that he was feeding well on his own. Anyway, he's eating plenty and every day there are loads of husks, his poop looks the right colour and consistency and he seems very bright and healthy so far.We are going to take Kaz's advice and move the perches and I had actually said to Marlo that we needed a feeder because I thought the bowl in the cage was too big. In fact the cage itself is way too big but she bought it off ebay on the rare occasion that i went out when the girls are home! I haven't been able to get to a pet shop/suppliers as yet, its a 70km round trip to the next town but I plan on taking the girls tomorrow night. Marlo's probably going to want to buy every single toy in stock!! LOLThe cage is not usually outside, that was only for the purpose of taking a few pics in natural daylight. He is not normally fluffy like he is in a couple of those pics. He lives inside, in the loungeroom where the coonara heater is (its our only form of heating where we live - no natural gas yet!) but once the weather warms up then I'll put him outside a bit more....somewhere away from the cat! We've taken note of all your advice and I'll keep a close eye on him but so far he seems to be doing very well. He has a swing now and absolutely loves it! I have read in another thread about the bells so am mindful of that too. I think the one on the swing will have to go, Im not sure how to tell what its made out of though.Im sure Marlo's going to be around often, asking you all lots of questions....I have told her to remember the FAQ section before she jumps on and starts asking random stuff. I hope she doesnt wear your patience! LOLThanks again for showing Marlo so much kindness,Marlo's Mum :)Yes, his wings were clipped when we got him. Is that a good thing or a bad thing??
  22. Thanks for the comment on Charlie Jenene!! Charlie is really annoying because he chirps alot of the time !!! LOL !!! When we bring him out all he wants to do is fly!! LOL
  23. This is a picture of Charlie's poo but Mum said its actually a bit darker greener than that.
  24. Thanks Liv. Yes I have seen Charlie eat and mum said to tell you there is alot of husks. We think the bird was out of the nest at least a day or 2 before we got Charlie. We have had Charlie for a week now and it loves to fly around and is really chirpy!!! It is doing lots of poo, is that a good sign? The lots of poo can be an upset tummy or not eating enough. What colour and type is his poo ? The poo is green and white. What colour is it suppose to be?
