NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, she is a he????? How can this be, do their bits change colour like this. It was pink when I got her/him on Saturday?? Now she/he will have a huge identity crisis.. Maybe we could have a girly boy bird.. All our pets are girls, even the kids..(Laughing out loud) :hap:

Her thingy near her beak was pink when I got her (sorry my knowledge of budgie bits is very limited).. It seems to be going a pink/purple kind of colour. The girl at the pet shop told me she was a girl. I have only noticed it today, but just dismissed it as my eyes playing tricks??

Understanding My Girl
Kids are 12, 9 & 8!! All girls so they think Pip is their baby.. They are pretty good, they are sticking their faces near the cage as I type!! Oh there we go again, the arm is in now.. (Laughing out loud) I guess if Pip doesnt seem too worried about it, we will keep it to hands in the cage only.. She came out yesterday & had a sticky beak around the lounge room for 5 minutes, till we could catch her.. Naughty birdy!!

Yeah, she is a baby, 3 months old I think. She still has the stripes on her head. The seed thing is a worry though, the ants like them better than she does at the moment. I might have to relocate her cage!! I have done a bit of study about training & everything I have read tells me to only have 1 person train her until she is used to them. Problem is I have 3 kids who cant help but stick their hands into her cage. I have told them not to, but they are sneaky!!! Should I make it so I am the only one that handles her until she gets used to me & then slowly introduce others?? Pip seems to be okay with it, but I do worry that I will raise an unstable feathered friend.. That would mean she fits in just nicely here...(Laughing out loud) :(Laughing out loud):

Understanding My Girl
Hi again, I have a few questions regarding my budgies behaviour, I want to try & understand her.. 1.. She makes a sneezing squeeky noise, normally when I put something new in the cage.. Today it was water for dipping in.. 2.. She sometimes sits & opens her beak without any sound coming out.. I thought she was sick??? or trying to talk.. I have been trying to teach her?? 3... She kicks all her seed out of the dish onto the floor of the cage & my floor (thanks Pippa).. Is this normal or is she rebelling, trying to tell me something?? I will have plenty of others, but cant think of anything right now.. Any tips would be appreciated.. :rip: BG

Oh thankyou for that, I was beginning to think I should have got a male one, but she was so pretty I couldnt resist. We called her Pippa. My other half wanted to call her 'Seed Face'.. Pippa is much nicer...(Laughing out loud)

Hi, I have just found this forum, so I am still looking around. I bought my first budgie on the weekend. Totally a spur of the moment decision. Went in for dog food & came out with a bird aswell....My kids love her.. :yellowhead: I got a pretty blue female (I have been told). She is pretty quiet (about 3 months old). She now sits on my finger but we havent ventured out of the cage yet. Now I find out that girls dont talk, I am hoping that this one will be the exception to the rule...(Laughing out loud) I am trying to get some info on the way they chirp & what it means (bird talk) I guess!! Angry, happy, etc?? Does anyone have a female budgie that talks at all??
