  4. Okay so if the other hens dont feel safe breeding, should I ramdomly pick a hen and a cock and put them in a cage, outside the aviary, with a breeding box and let nature do its thing ?? And the budgie/dove thing is just too weird to work out ??
  5. I have three breeding boxes and my aviary is half the size of a car shed. What is the definition of colony breeding ??
  6. Hi Everyone, I have an equal quota of hens and cocks, but all the cocks only want one hen, she has produced two chicks and now has two eggs laid. Just wondering, why the cocks dont show attention to the other hens ?? Most of them are over 3 years old. I also have some doves in my aviary and some of the budgie cocks, well.. ummmm.... ummmm do intimate acts on the doves wings etc...... Wonder why this happens too ???? Thanks, Sandra
  7. Hi people, I have a 5-6 week old chick, that hasnt mastered the skill of flying yet, it climbs all over the aviary and walks on the bottom, but no flying. Is this normal ?? Thanks, Sandra.
  8. Karen, Do I leave the chick with its parents then, till its old enough to breed ?? Thanks Sandra..

Hi Silver Your flock is beautiful. Hope you stay for awhile now. Sandra
  12. Hi Libby They have a breeding box, but someone told us they like hollow logs more. So they have a choice of venue I was told the color around their cheek area, determines the sex. Dark circle for male and lighter for female. Our tiels are grey in color and have yellow around the cheek area. Thanks Sandra.
  13. HI KAZ Our cockateils are in an aviary, about the size of 4 ft by 2ft, and they have two hollow logs in the aviary. I am not sure of their age, as we brought them from a pet shop. We see them grooming each other, but thats all the affection we see. Thanks Sandra. How old are they and how big is the cage and how have you set it up for breeding if you are trying ?
  14. Thanks Kaz, that article was extremly helpful. Sandra....
