  1. Umm..I thought that good luck came when you got some doodoo dropped onto your head??? Are you sure the doves didn't leave anything but their footprints??? Just being a bit of a cheeky :D
  2. Good going Derek. With Daz not too far away from you sounds like you are in the right area for some good advice. Hope it goes well and looking forward to seeing how it all goes.
  3. Not much going on with the aviary at the moment. Rain has delayed play - which we do not mind in the least. Our next door neighbour has offered us her double aviary which of course we are not knocking back so our plans are once again changing as to the layout. We also have a hexagonal [ 6 sided?] shadehouse that has lain unused for years so we have taken 2 of the sides, one complete with a flywired door and straightened out the side struts from being angled to straight so that we can use these as safety door entry to the 3 aviaries and roofing for the safety area as well as the converted garden shed. All plans in place but time to do it...now there's the rub! as they say!!!
  4. Looks good Kaz... Look at the possibility that maybe the Italian did a 'job' on the doves with a free pair of cement shoes for each one. Problemo solveoed!
  5. Being relatively new to the world of breeding Budgies, compared to some, it was great being able to come here and see the FAQ that I STILL look at for answers...so THANKS for the work you have done all concerned [ even the 'grossly overpaid' ones wink wink, nudge nudge]
  6. Look at the bright side...you could end up with some pretty Pink Flamingo sculptures added in from the mix ...depends on how much Grappa as you say!
  7. Hopefully no rain in the West Wednesday! Sounds like it's moving and shaking Kaz. Good work!
  8. It's been a little while now since I have been well enough to do anything much at all and no work was being done on the aviary project due to that extreme weather we had here in Adelaide. One has completely resolved itself for now [ cooler weather for a few days now] and I managed to get the energy to get up off the lounge to take a few pics of Robert working away this morning. So here 'tis an update pictorally... and Notice the Rain Guage we have put up in hope of some precipitation!!! God willing! All for now but I shall be around more than I have been this past month hopefully.

Hiya Mara and Sunshine. I can only say "hello" as I am no help at all in the sexing or typing department - yet. I am learning and this is a great Forum for getting that - help and teaching as well as being made feel welcome. Have a great stay and a great day. Blessings Julie

...I didn't laugh at anyone [ true] so prayin' you guys won't either. Here I am....I feel like I am in that film 'Sunset Boulevard' - "Here I am Mr DeVille" This was a home shot taken after my daughter and I had glam shots taken and since they are under forever 'Copyright', even though I paid megabucks for the things, this is the nearest thing to them. My darling hubby Robert and I - we were going to a Masquerade Ball - I should have left the mask on! We never, ever, go out where we need to get dressed up, [well, hardly ever] so this was a special occasion and one of all 4 of us...Me, Robert, Tyrone and Abby That's all folks and there won't be anymore as I may have just worn out my welcome! :yellowhead: Blessings, Julie
  11. Some of you may have seen ChookChook in one of my other posts and as she is the only other 'feathered' individual in our family apart from the Budgies, she is my entry in this comp. ChookChook came to us as a 'freebie' when we bought our first aviary about 10 years ago now so as to her age, all I know is that she is an 'old Chook'. She is a bit 'aloof' most of the time but has her moments when she comes and sits on my back when I am doing the aviary floor...I guess it may be when she's had enough of the Budgies and she has no other friend at the moment so I will do. Anyway, here she is...I'll let her do her stuff...

Hiya Derricka. This place is full of great posts about so many things to help with your Budgies and sometimes a bit of humour as well - a bonus in my book! I am so glad I found it and hope you find it of benefit to you as I am. Are most Budgie breeders in Oz in WA???
  13. Great pics of Louy. I'd be chirping crazily too if all I had to do was continually sit there and have my food brought to me and then not have to wash up afterwards! Lucky boy!!!
  14. Ohhhh! Why not!!!! We are getting pavers as with the other aviary and they are a freebie as well - so it's all working out well [ read as: "nice and cheap"] Robert went out and did a little bit this afternoon but came in as it is starting to get a bit too warm...meanwhile little wife/planner had a nap..well, one of us has to try and get beautiful one way or another! [ see my avatar!]
  15. Thank you all but those are the only ones left out of about 20 I took! As they say, "The cutting room floor is knee deep in rejected footage". I forgot to put in their names, in order they're - Von; PrettyBoyBlue; Marvin who was Mildred until his cere proved otherwise; BlueSkye; Angel,Olaf and an undetermined as yet friend. Cheers all
  16. Took some more pics the other day and so just sharing - was going to put in a couple of the puppies behind the new 'Jack Russell proof fence' but thought I might not be allowed to, so didn't just in case. Out of all of them, Marvin certainly has the most 'attitude' That's it for now. I really really need to learn how to take good pics of the beautiful things! Hand shakes, focus all wrong and so on and so on! Cheers for now Julie in a warming up again Adelaide
  17. I hope that the plan works out....for all of us. Robert has to do the work in patches as he works nights, sleeps daytime and does a great deal of overtime. I mainly am the gopher and tea/cool drink maker as well as placating the puppies...and of course the one who comes up with the ideas in the first place [ with added suggestions thank you Kaz]. :hap: We are going to plant some trees - more bottlebrush along the fenceline so as to give more shade to the entire area as well as hopefully being able to use the pitched roof trusses to make a shady seating area in the middle of the 2 larger aviaries. There are bottlebrushes at the rear of them and an apricot and orange tree as well. The shape of the whole thing will be like an upside down U in the end - hopefully.
  18. Thank you kindly Birdluv...you definitely are an 'Angel'. Julie [ Buffy and Angel fan - having soft spot for Spike!]
  19. Hey Bec, belated Congrats on Skittles winning the award for Feb. I had trouble finding where the winner was posted but now I have and I must say that Skittles is absolutely beautiful...looks as though he has attitude!!! Julie
  20. Hello all. I was blessed the other day in that on my evening walk, I noticed that outside a house in the next street they had put up a new veranda and on the footpath outside there were 5 sheets of brand new Bluescope steel zincalume measuring 3 &1/2 metres long by 800 wide and an 5 metre piece of C-channel. The owner was gracious enough to allow me to take it away for nothing - what a blessing! Now, we are working on doing the new aviary [the converted garden shed] and am wondering if Xincalume sheets need anything done to them prior to using in an aviary - also the C-channel? We have also taken your sage advise Kaz, partly, in moving the garden shed frame over towards the existing aviary and we are also being blessed in that a friend is getting us a smaller and wider aviary to use as a safety cage linking the two larger ones together....well, that is the plan anyway. I have photos of the garden shed having its sheets ripped off and we are using a flat roof instead of having the gable roof it originally had and will post them later on. Thanks for the help. Julie [ who now remembers her log in name and has new password so I can post again! and has also written it down! *eyes down and embarrassed*]
  21. Wow! What beautiful birds those 2 are - He reminds me of George Clooney and she looks so angelically white! I hope that you have a successful pairing and that the outcome is all you want it to be.
  22. Where can we see the picture of the Budgie of the Month when the judging is done? I have looked but cannot seem to find it.
  23. Have you caught him with one wing held into his chest yet?? Napolean sounds great to me. What about 'Napolean Feathers-Apart' ? Excuse that last, won't you. *hangs head with face red*

Until I came here I had never seen a 'Yellow face'....lovely! All of your birds are gorgeous and the last one with the flecks is lovely and different to boot. Proud 'papa'.
  25. I think that 'cos it seems so happy and healthy and 'normal' in everything else, truly is all that, that 'Mum' is not overly concerned - more just wondered if anyone had experienced the same thing as this in a budgie. Thanks for the suggestion.
