hi and welcome, you have beautiful budgies
  4. Helga has settle down heaps today, i can put my hand in the cage and put it near her and she does not fly away.she is already drinking and eating a little. she thinks it is more fun to stand in the seed and scatter it everywhere. i tried to give her lettuce but everytime i put in it the bars of the cage she keep pulling it out and dropping it on the bottom of the cage. i think she is going to be a mischievous little girl.
  5. they look like they love the rain,we were suppposed to get a storm this afternoon but it passed by us.
  6. i thought about it but i have seen pet shops with lots of birds shoved in small cages and it seems the rspca does not do anything about them. All the birds had food and water and i did not see any sick birds just overcrowded cages.
  7. she is in quarantine and because of where i bought her she will stay there for a couple of months just to make sure she is very healthy before i put her in the aviary.
  8. Boris will be very happy she is a recessive pied but he will have to wait a while before he meets her.

great pics, Conan is a beautiful bird and looks like he likes to get into everything.
  10. hi and welcome, i hope Piper improves for you.
  11. he bought Helga from a breeder and he said she has not bred yet but she is ready because her cere is dark brown. he said he starts breeding when they are 6 months old, i felt like slapping him but thought better not.it is hard to get a photo of her because she gets very flighty when i go near her cage.
  12. i just had my first experience of a dodgy bird breeder. i went to the place that advertises as a bird shop and it was a caravan full of bird cages with all these different types of birds shoved in these little cages and i was not going to buy anything but this pretty pied caught my eye. the guy told me she was 18 months old and a recessive pied but know i have her home i think she is younger than 18 months because she still has faint bars on her head and i am still trying to work out the difference between dominant and recessive pieds but i think she is dominant not recessive. can anyone tell me what they think. i still think she is beautiful but would like to know her age and type because i bought her for breeding.the guy i bought her from from said he did not know much about types of budgies, a bird is a bird to him and he only breed for money.i have just put her in a cage and have wormed her and my husband does not like her because when he picked her up to put her in her cage she bit him and we have some that bite but not hard like she did.she does not have a name yet, my husband wants to call her Helga.when i was looking at her i noticed she had no iris rings so i assumed that meant she is recessive pied so is that correct

i have been going to the pet shop every week looking for some nice coloured budgies but have not found any yet. i did see a couple of cute quails that i am trying to convince my husband to let me buy.i think they would be great running around the bottom of the aviary.

sounds like you had a awful night, hope you get a chance today for a rest but i know with little kids that is so hard.glad to hear Cocky is doing better and is sounds like you have some great plans and lots of work to do on your new setup. it is so much fun making extensions.
  19. in the picture it looks like she has a ring on her leg so there would be a date on it to determine her age.

i hope the cast comes off before the baby comes and i hope he does not get too big for you. All my 4 children where over 4 kg and it is no fun pushing a big baby out.
