My friend ended up taking her budgie to the vet today because his eye got worse again. The vet told her he an infection in his eye caused by mites and gave her some medicine to put on his eye and put some ointment on his back to get rid of the mites. She is wondering what sort of mites would they be because his eye is the only thing affected. He did not tell her how he got the mites and what else she has to do like does she have to clean his cage with anything. He is a inside budgie and the only one she has.

  5. i finally finished laying the bricks today and i still have to get some more wood for the base and cement it but it is slowing getting build.
  6. She never showed any signs of being eggbounded, normal poos and very relaxed in her nestbox. Maybe like MB's hen she was probably having a rest.
  7. i had a similar problem when i put my 2 birds together and i got great advice from people on this forum telling me it was due to the size of my cage. when i bought a bigger cage the fighting stop and there was a bigger distance betwen their food bowls so they shared better.
  8. It was a big surprise, but since sunday she has been in the nestbox and has not been letting the male near her so would the egg be fertile.
  9. B2 layed her 4th egg today but her 3rd egg was laid on Sunday so i was suprised to see a egg. i thought that eggs where laid 2 days apart so was i wrong in assuming that.
  10. I got a big surprise today, i have 4 eggs. The 3rd egg was laid on sunday so when i did not get a egg on Tuesday i thought that was the end of her laying. I have been out this morning and check her when i got home and there is 4 eggs. Has anyone else had eggs laid 4 days apart before.
  11. One of my babies had a fall out of his nest box, it was a 1& 1/2 metre drop onto dirt floor. He had injured his leg and seem paralysed on one side of his body, it took a couple of months to get full movement back but he is 18 months old now and apart from a waddle when he walks he is doing fine.
  12. i will keep those names in mind and they will be good if i get 2 girls and i boy but if not i will have some males with identity issues.
  13. it has been three days since she laid her last egg so it looks like i will be not getting anymore eggs. She has taken to sitting on the eggs all the time and the male is going in feeding and sitting with her. They are a cute pair.I got some photos of the eggs today when she finally go off them for a while. This is B1 and B2, she is only a small hen so ia m wondering if that is why she only laid 3.

i rang my friend to night and the budgies eye is better, it is moulting at the moment so i think it has properly been rubbing its eye because it was itchy.
  18. congratulations on number 7, she is going to have lots of bubs to look after if they all hatch.
  19. i was wondering if it could be something in your setup that is preventing them from breeding like the position of the perches and nestbox. do you have a photo of your cabinets?
  20. Hopefully all your pairs will breed for you,Sunnie.i hope your hen with 6 eggs will get one than one baby this time. I just candled my first egg and it is fertile so i hopefully i will get a baby from this pair. The pair i have are pet types.
  21. i am in the maitland area of nsw and my breeding cabinet is in my enclosed screened area. i have 3 eggs in the nest so the weather does not seem to be affecting my birds. i covered the nestbox and cabinet at night to keep them warm.
  22. i was fortunate that i got this pair 3 weeks ago and they where already bonded so when i put them in a breeding cabinet it only took a week before she laid a egg.i hope your pairs start showing interest in each other soon.
  23. that is a cute photo but it is weird they way she is sitting with them around her and not on them.does the Tweet Tweet go and sit with her in the nest? With my pair the male will not leave the females side so they both live in the nestbox.
  24. i know you are not suppose to double post but i got my third egg today and i just had to tell you because i am very excited about my first cabinet pair breeding for me.
  25. It is Laverne i am having problems with. She chases the older birds around and fights with them especially Henry my big green male she has taken a special interest in harrassing him. He goes into the log to hide from her and she sits on the top waiting for him to poke his head out and then attacks him everytime he ventures out.
