My grown up girl Loving her neck scratch Still trying to get the hang of this preening business Give me a kiss Mum, [ sorry about my big snoz in the pics] I love my Mum
  3. That is awful that you had to ruin the car just for a little bit of dust, i hope it will not cost too much for you to get it back to normal again.
  4. Thanks Jenene, that is the bird i was talking about MB that was from 2 spangles and was born with plum eyes.
  5. I do not plan on breeding with her till the end of the year and she is a skyblue violet spangle and i would like violets from her. i do not anything suitable in my aviary to breed her with so i have to look for a male but i did not want to buy a new male and then find out she is not suitable for breeding because she was handraised. The problem is she is bonded to all humans and will sit on my kids and hubbys shoulder when they go to the aviary as well.
  6. I am wondering if anyone has any handraised budgies that have been good parents, i have a hen in the aviary who i handraised but even though she is in the aviary she does not socialise much with the other birds, she is nearly 12 months old and sometimes will let one male feed her but whenever he tries more than that she gets cranky and bites him. Whenever i am in the aviary she sits on my shoulder and i have to pysically removed her to get out of the aviary. I love her colour and want to breed with her but because she was handraised will she never bond with a male budgie.

  14. Congrats on your first egg hatching, glad to hear the clipping worked.
  15. Thanks Libby for the explanation of the df spangles.
  16. i only ended up with 3 from this nest, Roxy is one and she is a blue opaline spangle and the other hen is a blue spangle then i have this male which has me confused because i thought if he was born with plum eyes that he would be all white. so can you have a df spangle that is not pure white or pure yellow? Mutations still confuse me, i thought df spangles had to be basically one colour.

thanks AV, i like the idea of a box because he also has times where he wants to bite feet and will chase my kids biting their feet. i am worried he will get stood on if he does not stop it.
  18. in the last photo you posted he looks like a pied more than a spangle.

Only problem with putting him on the floor is that his wings are clipped so he normally plays on the floor so i do not know if he would see it as punishment.
  20. he is a interesting looking budgie, is that a slight green colour in his chest.
  21. It will be interesting to see how yours turn out, cannot wait till they are feathered. I would love to see a photo of Ozzie.
  22. Thanks for your ideas, i think all of its breast is blue but i will still get some more recent pics of it.
  23. Is that the mum or the baby you are talking about, is the mum a df spangle? What would the mutation of the baby be called then? I was referrinbg to the chick...that if you think its a df spangle.....I am not used to seeing that much colour in any df spangle I know of thats all. Not saying it cannot happen...it just hasnt happened in my breeding of DF spangles. i not sure what the chick is, i am still trying to work out genetics. i thought if i put 2 spangles together than i would get spangle babies so i would love for someone to tell me what this baby is.

  25. The mum has white iris rings so i assumed she is a white df spangle. The dad is carrying opaline because one of the chicks is a blue opaline spangle [Roxy].
