Scaly Face
i was checking the budgies this morning and i have never had scaly face before in my aviary so i am not sure what it looks like in early stage. I am thinking it is scaly face so i have took a photo of one of the budgies, there are a few looking similar. can someone confirm for me if it is or not.

Scaly Face
I have noticed that a few of my budgies in the aviary have been rubbing their beaks on the perches and have given them a rough look to their beaks. Is this a indictation that they have scaly face or normal behaviour, some of the ones doing it are moulting.

My Budgie Has Lost Alot Of Blood.
You said that their are some feathers missing, could some of the blood be coming from broken feathers, if so you need to find the broken feathers and pull the rest of it out.

What Cake Are You
Lemon meringue pie for me 3. LEMON MERINGUE -- Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent caregiver and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, you set your own style because you do your own thing. You shine when it comes to helping others and have many friends.

Jake's Beak
Sorry i missed your Post MB, i was cleaning his wing tonight and decided to take a picture of his beak to show you how it was going. It is improving slowly but is growing crooked. i am hoping it will straigthen up when the whole beak grows back. It has been 6 weeks since he got attacked and he is still able to feed himself even with not much of a beak. Now with his wing problem i think it will be a long time still before he can go back in the avairy.

Do Males Need A Rest After Breeding.
i am the same as you and i have only colony breed so i would just take the nestboxes out when the babies had fledge. i was not sure if they needed time by themselves before they went back to the aviary.

Do Males Need A Rest After Breeding.
do you usually rest them in seperate cages so if i put 3 pairs together do i need 6 cages for after the babies fledge. Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question.

Do Males Need A Rest After Breeding.
I am just wondering what do people do with their males after breeding, i know hens need to have a rest before going back to the avairy but what about the males. I am just trying to work out how many cages i need to purchase and setup in my breeding room.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
i was wondering the same thing. At the beginning of the year Jake had to be treated for fatty lipoma cysts in his chest and i am wondering if this is related.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
i had a feel of his wing and then one of my other budgies wings and i cannot feel any lump or any difference apart from missing his primary flights.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
Feel which area Kaz, i do not know what a feather cysts looks like. some of the feathers are joined together. i do not know if he pulled them out, i did not see him to do it so i have no idea how it happened.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
It looks like he has cut the feathers off but i have searched his cage and cannot find anything that is sharp enough to cause the damage. Here is a picture of his wing and a picture of the pile of feathers i found in the bottom of his cage this morning.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
No betadine but i do have a antiseptic cream, can you put it on budgies. do you want to see a picture at all so you can help me with what to do. He is happy in himself and does not seem worried by it all.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
I did pull out the rest of the broken feathers when i cleaned it. After looking at it again i cannot work out how he would have done it because it looks like part of the bone is missing as well. Should i strap it to his body to help it heal quicker and so he does not bang it and make it bleed again.

Jack Has Been In The Wars Again
Jake seems to be going through a rough time at the moment. His beak is finally getting better but it is growing crooked. He is still living in a cage by himself. This morning when i checked him he has injured his wing during the night. Somehow he has broken all his flight feathers off one wing and it was bleeding. Whether something frightened him and he was flying mad in his cage. I cleaned the area and put cornflour on it but what i am wondering should i clip his other wing so he will not be off balance. I think he is one tough bird because even though he has had so many injuries he does not bother him. he is not stressed and when i found him he was eating, the bleeding was not bothering him at all.
