They are very cute, that will keep you busy handraising 3 babies.

That does not seem right to me, why do they feel they need to charge at all. My kids attend a private school and there school concert is on this month and the entry fee is a donation.

I am sorry for your loss of Gina and i agree with Elly that it would be good to get Kimy checked out by a vet.

i need to get one of them, my daughter has been nagging me for her own pet but she is not responsible enough to look after it properly. A robotic pet would be perfect for her.

It sounds like things are going well, i have found it is easier to train when they are not distracted by their toys.

Sounds like you had a fun day,once i finish the aviary my next project is to make a vegie garden and grow some herbs.

The problem is i have 2 good size aviaries but I spent all my money on materials so i cannot afford to get any new budgies yet.

Mike and I spent all yesterday working on the avairy and i am nearly finished, just have to finish the middle divider wall and then fit it out. I was able to get a screen door for free which was great. The weld mesh i am using is suppose to be mouse proof and the other aviary has the same size mesh and no mice can get into it so i am not going to put tin on and see how it goes.

i make up mashed egg with grated vegies every 2nd morning for her, she eats a lttle bit of it but is still not keen on it.Every other morning i give her vegies and she is starting to eat more of them. she is eating more of her millet spray but still only eats a little bit of seed. I give her rearing food at night if it looks like she has not eaten alot of her vegies and seed during the day, which is still nearly every night. She is so funny, yesterday i was outside working on the aviary and did not come inside till 6pm, she normally gets her soft food at 5pm so Roxy was not happy about having to wait. She was in her cage sitting on the door calling out to me and when i opened the door to give her the food she came flying out and landed in the container and started eating. I think she must be hanging out all day for her soft food. Here is some latest Roxy pics, she is still very scruffy looking compared to the other babies.

I am putting welded mesh on my avairy and bought it from ebay new and paid $5 per metre.

i have 3 female quails in my avairy. i did not want to breed them so i did not get any males. They do not fight at all and i have bricks that they walk on and they are fine on it.

i used to have a dirt floor but i put bricks down for a floor because the mice were digging under the avairy and coming into the aviary. I would do concrete and then sand, it will be more mouseproof.

I think i will go with the sand but i will have to get some tin to put around the sides to stop the sand from falling out.

I have bricks as the base of my aviary which get covered in poo and seed. i am a clean freak so twice a week i get on my knees with a paintscraper and dustpan and brush cleaning the floor. With the new aviary nearly finished i am thinking it is going to take me longer to clean the aviaries. Can you put anything like straw or sand on the base to cover the bricks so i do not have to scrap the poo off. What i am concerned about is if it get wet will bacteria breed and make the budgies sick. i do not hose it to clean it because i have quails and it would stress them if i caught them regularly just to clean the aviary.
