Hello and welcome Angel is beautiful I agree she is a hen. hens are gorgeous too - they just dont tend to talk.
  6. Great news she is all better
  7. he sounds like he has rickets. Rickets is a weakness of the feet caused by a lack of calcium in the diet when developing as a chick. You can often tell if its rickets by their toes turning inwards when perching. Have you any photos??
  8. She is stunning Kaz - they both are!! Dave, you picked well
  9. They are all looking so wonderful! I love seeing their progress shots. I bet they are loving the flight space in the aviary. Well done getting so many quality hens too
  10. Oh i hope your hubby is feeling better soon :hap: i look forward to pics of Flash - cool name by the way :hap:
  11. Your more than welcome. thank you for listening :hap:
  12. I quarantine for 4 weeks normally. It's very important not to break the quarantine for at least this time. My new setup will have a separate shed at the other end of the garden for quarantine - well away from my birds While a bird is in quarantine, even if they have been there for 3.5 weeks, if you add another bird to your quarantine area than all birds start back at square one.
  13. He is a spangle for sure.
  14. I agree with Harry being a spangle. He is nice too. Lovely flock you have there :happy-dancing:
  15. Girls are just as lovely as cocks when given lots of attention, they just dont talk the the boys do.
  16. Here is an example of the cere i am talking about. The baby on the left IS a clear hen, the baby on the right looks more like a cock, but is in fact a hen.... I think your new bird is possibly the same. a cock would have a more consistent (and darker) pinky/purple cere
  17. that a confusing cere. i hate it when they show these, they look female, but also look like could be a male. I think i lean towards hen. but thats not for sure.
  18. I can vouch for that - it makes a huge difference and many breeders i know have done it. just glue it to the roof and any walls that the sun hits. Also put a whirly bird thingie on the roof to let out the excess heat
  19. I agree. a new aviary sounds good so you can separate the breeding ones from the young ones Line/in breeding is not a good idea without very strict rules and record keeping
  20. She is lovely Kaz whats that you say pretty bird...?? You want Kaz to send you to Liv....???
  21. I have to agree with quill mites, however i do not see any on the feather in that photo - they look like little brown specks of dirt. See here for info ----> http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=22353 there is no harm in treating with Ivermectin or moxidectin anyway, as it will kill any worms etc too.
  22. Glad everyone made it home safe and sound. They are looking great in their holding cages.

Just wanted to say hello and welcome - JD is gorgeous
  24. Try giving pro biotics in the water at stress dose level. It's amazing how this stuff perks them up. It has been hot here too and i have just put a thermometer on my aviary so will keep track of the temps too. I hope you dont get any more loss
  25. That is horrible!!! : what monsters
