New birds do this sometimes. Just make sure the seed is at perch level and positioned right next to the spot they are sitting so its easy for them to take a nibble if they are feeling timid. Keep an eye on her poops. if they are still looking normal, then she is eating sneakily without you knowing.
  3. And it was right  :bliss:
  4. They are really cool - I love Quakers. I had one visit me the other day and they are the cutest pets :bliss: I love your aviary. I have an aviary with a risky door too. i put a sheet over mine when i need to open it up.
  5. Biggest :bliss: I hope she is feeling better soon.

I am sorry, but it is against board rules for us to answer questions related to other animals and bird species. Try this site for some info http://mywebsite.bigpond.com/donpaulnaavia...nglorikeets.htm or look up a lorikeet forum. Good luck

I agree that MDF is toxic. I have seen it used frequently in nesting boxes that are purchased from pet shops too Ply wood is great. its easy to use and cheap

The little grey ones looks to be a hen too. I am a bit appalled at the breeder who sold these birds to you. It's one thing to get them from a pet shop, but i would expect a lot better bird direct from the breeder, or at least the breeder should have told you of the condition rather than giving you the impression you were getting healthy birds I think you will be fine with them. as long as they get daily care and attention (like any bird) then they are getting enough, any more is a bonus  Give them plenty of good fresh food and quality seed. You could even try giving extra protein and amino acids to try and encourage healthier feather growth.
  15. And what a beautiful beanbag she is too  Make sure no one sits on her

Hello and welcome  Your budgies are sweet. I agree with the french moult. the grey one definitely has it, the green one may have it too as his flights look to be missing. I had a french moult pet budgie once - she was the sweetest budgie i ever had. she would go everywhere with me, even to school in grade 4 when i had a really easy going teacher  - sadly due to the FM she didnt live past 5 years though, they do tend to have a shorter life  sammy
  17. There are a few members on here who have contracted the virus from their birds You need to see your doctor and get them to test you. You will need to treat yourself, your husband and your birds with an antibiotic called Doxycilline. Your cockatiels will need to visit the vet and get the bird form of doxy. Good luck and i hope you are all feeling better soon
  18. She is adorable - what an angel. I'd call her "Teddy" hehe because she is soft and cuddly and looks like her babies are using her as a teddy to cuddle up to
  19. They are beautiful birds. Lola is a male however, and he is stunning
  20. Thats the worst part. i buckled and bought mine an aviary as i couldn't stand watching them in the holding cages any longer.

  24. Awesome birds!! I love both your sky blue cock birds! they are stunning
  25. You have had some great tips I just wanted to mention not to use cotton towels to cover cages as they can chew them and get an obstruction from cotton buildup in the crop and gizzard.
