After spending the time preparing a few birds for last nights mini show (08 rings only) i decided this Dominant pied was the best one to take. (this boy came from a pet shop in WA ) I had a go at despotting (on another bird) and totally messed it up :sadsorry: ... so i left this boy with all his spots. I made some mistakes. 1) had seed in the bottom, it was a night show and not meant to have seed, 2) AND i had water in the drinker :rip: 3) plus it was a proper show and not just a night show like i thought so i ended up getting points for a bird i didn't breed  So after doing a cage swap, my boy was put on the bench with the other novice birds. The entertainment for the night was that our vice president, Peter Glassenbury, was one of the 2 judges and all birds were judged out the front and put onto a projector. Each bird was discussed and features and faults were pointed out to everyone. I thought it was AWESOME!! Peter G judged my boy and he sat beautifully His features and faults were discussed to everyone. He did alright too, he got first place , but he also didn't have any competition :hap: However, he won 3rd place novice bird for the night The elation was taken out because i knew i didn't breed him but, i am still stoked to know that one of my lesser birds can do alright . I cant wait to show my babies when the time comes Well that was my first show and it was so much fun

His beak is fine at the length it is at at the moment. You don't want it to grow too long. I am trimming Kitch's beak tomorrow. So what you see in the picture is about the length it gets to before i give it a trim. Trimming is easy and your vet (a DIFFERENT vet) will be able to show you how to do it so you dont have to keep going in every 2 weeks.

I just took these of Kitch to help show you the difference between an under bite and scaly face (sorry they are dark, he was sleeping and i didnt want to flash him) (not my birds below) With mild scaly face Moderate scaly face severe scaly face
  14. **Liv** replied to Elsa's post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
I have been breeding and keeping budgies for 15 years and i am sorry, if that budgie has scaly face, then its VERY VERY mild and would not cause that beak deformity Here is my Kitch who has an under bite from food caught in the beak as a chick.
  15. **Liv** replied to Elsa's post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
I have to agree. that is not caused by scaly face mites This is what a deformed beak looks like from scaly face

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone else has a budgie who doesn't drink water??? I have had my budgie for 8 years and she doesn't ever drink water but she is perfectly healthy! Additional Details She doesn't drink water....I haven't put any water in her cage for years! Becasue she doesn't drink it! ........................... There is no point offerring her water, she never drinks it! .......................... Hallowsweets... I am not a cruel person! I love my budgie very much and she is part of the family. I only posed this question as I have often wondered if anyone else also has a budgie that doesn't drink water. I have tried giving her vegetables such as celery but they never get eaten. So all she eats is seed. It's not a big deal, she doesn't drink water. My vet said last year that she is in perfect health. Don't answer people if you are going to be rude and stupid... ........................ I think I am just going to take Conscience's advice thanks Moggie2!! "If it aint broke don't fix it!" Thanks. She has been fine for about 6 years without it so I think she will be fine! Perhaps you don't know everything Moggie2!!! Get a life! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_y...29210824AAKyuNm

Gorgeous photo Mirrors unfortunately can mess with a budgies brain as they truly believe there is another bird there. Charlie will bond to the reflection in her mirror rather than to you, so if you want her tame, best take it out.
