Help!
I would suggest that your budgie has the beginnings of an illness developing. it seems to be an issue with breathing - sounds almost wet . i would get him to the vet for diagnosis. There are many other things it could be too. my birds made a sound like that when they were vomiting from Canker. prompt diagnosis is vital.

Opinions On This Please...
It's always risky breeding in the open with no safety enclosure. i get birds getting out when changing food or checking babies etc. Can you go on ebay and buy a second aviary to use as a breeding room. Adelaide ebayers have a few aviaries at the moment for a change.

Current Babies
i love your cabinet stands. i will be making some of those before next season too :hooray:

It really depends on the birds, both inside and outside the cabinets. If the birds outside the cabinets are calm and not likely to harass then they might do okay. Also the budgies inside the cabinets need to be calm breeders that wont be bothered if a larger parrot happens to look in the cage. I guess unless you try, you wont know. the budgies wont breed if they are not comfortable.

Is there a way you could section off a small part of the aviary, as the budgies really wont like the parrots climbing around on the breeding cabinets?

Sitting
okay, great. So just let her sit and they should be fine. Eggs are robust and i bet your hen will be back on the eggs when you are not looking. normally hens wont leave a clutch of eggs for no reason.... If the eggs die, they will also lose their white colour... so in a week or so, check their fertility again The key is not to stress (the birds can sense it and it makes them stress themselves)

Dead Foot
Oh my - hope you work out what it is :glare:

Sitting
My advice is to just relax and wait the time until they are due. Dont stress your hen with too much checking. Even approaching the cage can be enough to cause stress. There is nothing you can do to change whether the eggs are fertile or not. Fertile eggs will look chrisp white on the shell, where infertile eggs tend to be off white (almost opaque) A relaxed owner will have relaxed birds and much more success with breeding :glare:

Flying At/landing On Others
I see birds who chase each other and fight etc. it can be a dominance thing over a mate or a perch. Perhaps she thinks she is top bird and is trying to keep the others off "her spots"

European Bred Birds V's Australian Bred Birds
They are stunning birds. Our problem here in Australia is we have far too many budgie lines. We have a genetic mess in comparison to the European budgies which have had all the messy genetics weeded out to create a stunning bird. Because of all the close relations, a breeder can pick a bird from another breeder to add features to their own birds and are nearly always guaranteed to "click". Here in Aust, we buy a bird from another breeder to add features and often end up with more genetic mess that takes a lot of work to breed out
