Good luck at the vets. i really hope they are good. i took a bird to a vet today and i knew more than that dim witt, i had to tell him what was wrong with the bird - most vets dont know much (if anything) about birds.

Oh, and the doves... not a good idea either... they are riddled with worms, lice, psittacosis, canker etc etc etc... not a good idea at all... your claude needs to go to the vet and get treated, today please.

I agree with Elly... mice urine and dropping are toxic to a bird and mouse contaminated food and water can wipe out an entire flock over night!

I have seen a tiny, pet type looking bird from a top breeder produce AMAZING chicks!!! It's all in the genetics and you will never know what you have until you try them. Some birds look stunning and will produce lousy looking chicks. Some birds will look plain and produce stunning chicks. Some other birds... well they just dont produce, no matter how good or bad they are

Panting after flight is fine if it only lasts a minute or two. Moulting is very stressful on a bird and this is the time of the year for the annual moult where they will loose (and replace) every feather on their body. Personally it sounds like moulting... lice or mites are possible, but they are easily treated if you are worried about them

A photo update Chick 1) this little cutie has a little surprise... A split recessive pied spot. We are thinking it comes from the hen... Chick 1) this one has decided its old enough to fledge. I have to keep putting it back in the box. It perches alright for its age. Chick 2) this one is a really cool colour Chick 3) This little one is a really pretty soft yellow... Chick 1) Chick 2) Chick 3 ) camera ran out of batteries so missed the last 2 chicks....

hehe he will still poop on you when you don't tell him to poop. the idea is that he will do a poop when you tell him, thus, giving maximum time to play before he will poop on you (of his own accord ) I really dont know if budgies can be trained to poop in one location... i guess anything is possible with dedicated training

You cant teach them to poop only when you want them too, but you can teach them to poop on command which can be handy before and after short periods of handling. Their fast metabolism makes them poop every 20 minutes or so. If you make them poop before handling them, you should have 20 mins of poop free time. Training would be done with clicking (from a clicker) and rewards (food or a pat). Every time the budgie does a poop, click instantly and give the bird a reward. Do this as much as you can and eventually the budgie will associate clicking with pooping. When this happens you will be able to click and the bird should instantly poop I heven't done this myself, but clicker training is very effective in budgies. good luck

Be careful where you buy them.. there are some good shops and some BAAAAAADDDDD shops.... The bad shops are jam packed with every bird you can think of and i have come across sick, dying and dead birds many times in them. The water is putrid and the food is often gone - the shops are airless and smell bad... i cant name them publicly, but DONT buy from them!!!

Her wings are dropped which is a classic sign of sickness. i would advise the vet. even if we could tell you what was wrong with her, you still need to go to the vet to get the medication. she looks like she would have a breeders ring on.... what is the colour of it??? or better yet, what does it say?
