  1. as the others have said, Dad should do just fine - if you buy a new mate for the male, you need to wait the 30 day quarantine period before they can be put together. A New hen could also attack the babies
  2. All good pet shops will have bird wormer it is about $20 a bottle. I don't mind looking at poopy bottoms lol. I was thinking in the shower that she might still be stressed from moving - If her poops have improved greatly, but are still not perfect yet, she might still be recovering from the stress of moving. Pictures will help I am heading out until around lunch time, - i'll be back Hope others will be able to assist you in the mean time
  3. AWWWWWwwwwww they are adorable
  4. She could do with a worm then - It wont cause any harm even if she doesn't have any worms. Are you able to take a photo of her poop and her vent???
  5. Us .nerds have gotta stick together
  6. has she been wormed in the last 12 weeks??
  7. Oh, I am so sorry What a bummer! I bet there will be something much better out there for you. I believe everything happens for a reason too
  8. You did great - it's not about the 'jaggers' its about getting the feathers the right length and knowing where to stop! Well done The 'sleek look' is uncomfortable for a bird as those feathers are normally supported by the other feathers. When they are not cut, they pull and create drag when flapping - not nice for a bird Oh and yes, you can now even up your Egg too - she will feel much better

  10. WOW!! Thats an awesome cage!!! More toy shopping... and i think you could add another budgie, or 2, or 3 or 4 more in there too hehe
  11. I agree with Kaz, to cut the remaining flight. - otherwise, you did GREAT
  12. Have your birds done much breeding this year already??? Perhaps they are taking time out for a break
  13. Poor budgies... tough lessons to learn Touch wood, I have not had any bad deaths - just one that flew away Thanks for all the warnings - Posts like these will save the life of other birds :angel1:
  14. Birds can get very cranky if they don't get enough sleep For his own safety, he should always be caged over night and when you are out

This is square aviary mesh 13mm x 13mm - it also comes in a retangular type. This is the cage I put the mesh on. It is a quarantine cage. The mesh needs to go on the inside of the cage. And the mesh needs to be tightly sewn using wire to the cage edge and at the corners. There can not be any places for your birds to get their legs caught etc. Also you will need to clean up all the edges to ensure there are not any sharp bits - espeically around openings and at the base of the cage. I tucked the wire in between the cage base and the wire to keep all the sharp bits away. Around the doors is the hardest part to cover. I sew fabric around the edges of the doors - I don't have a picture of this because it's a quarantine cage and it's been cleaned ( except for the stray feathers from the aviary hahaha) and I haven't sewen fresh fabric on yet. You will need to wash the wire with vinigar, leave for 2 hours then rince off with water, to remove the zink. I don't really feel it's good for a permanet setup, but it will see your babies though until you can either get a new cage. You never know, they might grow big enough in time to not fit through the bars - they are still growing Hope this helps.
  16. Personally, i don't think you have anything to worry about. Birds sneeze if they get a little dust in the nose etc. If the 'snot' is clear and not sticking to the feathers above the cere, then its probably just dust (or some other allergen) If the 'snot' is getting stuck in his feathers, then he will need to visit a vet as he may need medication. The clicking of his beak, which would sound a bit light grinding, is just him relaxing

Aww they are both lovely. I agree with the others on their genetics and they are both boys
  18. Hello and welcome I would also reduce the amount of light he has during the day - use a dark cloth to cover his cage and give him at around 12-13 hours of darkness each night - it will feel more like winter and might reduce his hormones a bit.

What a bummer! Good luck in your search.
  21. Most budgies leave the nest at 4-5 weeks of age, which means your new budgie will be about 5-6 weeks. They often dont wean until 6-7 weeks of age, so make sure you get confirmation from the breeder that your birdie is eating completely on his own.
  22. Hello and welcome to you and all your lovely animals Your budges look great - When you get your new birds, remember to do 30 days quarantine Feel free to ask any questions, and i look forward to hearing all about your budgies
  23. Look's very coool
