  2. You will get used to holding your birds JB. they are pretty tough and you will get used to the amount of pressure to use. I am amazed at how much i can do now, budgie in one hand and doing stuff with the other. - its all about holding the bird correctly ----> How to hold a budgie
  3. Congrats Neat - Thanks for all your hard work
  4. MMMMMMmmmmmm I haven't even had breakfast yet
  5. He would be sleeping that way because he is stressed at the moment and not comfortable enough to tuck his head over his back. On the other hand though, not all birds tuck their heads over their back either. I would cover him fully at night and on 3 sides during the day until he settles in a bit - he may not like it at first, but it will reduce his overall stress.

  16. She will need lots of fresh soft food. Soaked seed, veggies grated finely, cooked mashed egg, egg and biscuit mix etc. She needs it to be soft and super easy for her to eat. Also make sure the food is super fresh - after about 2 hours the fresh food is no good and you dont want to risk her getting sick, so best to give it first thing in the morning for 2 hours, and then again at about 3:30pm.
  17. It is so sad when they dont get a chance to see the world. The little chicks sibling seems fine, but i will be keeping a close eye on it. It is not showing the same symptoms as the chick who died. the chick who died, was a really noisy squawker, and now that i think back it could have been from pain :laughter: I only have 7 chicks all up this round so I hope i dont have any more loss. On a brighter note, one of the albino chicks looks to be a creamino there is pale yellow showing in the feather and both of Lady's chicks are doing well.

I am so sorry for your loss brez
  19. Just a quick update - I lost this chick to these parents today It has been developing a hard lump in it's crop for the last 3 days - i first noticed it 2 days ago when it wasn't being fed by the parents and the hard lump was about the size of a pea. I fostered the chick to another hen, who also didn't feed it. Today i tried to feed the chick myself, but it couldn't swallow the formula as the lump was so large and blocked the esophagus. It was possibly a birth defect or possibly a tumor - it was so fast growing and solid, the poor little chick didn't have a chance Pair Three Poor little Chick you were only 11 days old - RIP (image taken just before the mass grew)
  20. Hello and welcome. You are in the right place to get all you answers questions. There is a lot to learn before you start breeding budgies, and well done for asking the questions and doing the research before you begin the breeding There is heaps of information available in the breeding forums and the FAQ's that will help you get an idea of what is involved and where to start.
  21. It doesn't really matter - i give about to 20ml to 500ml of water - i make it quite strong as it has an antibacterial property and also perks them up a bit It needs to be the real cordial with over 20% pure raspberry in it - the kids stuff will do nothing.
  22. Great news
  23. Hello and welcome, He sounds not well. it could be so many different things that can cause the same symptoms. It could be stress, lack of food, change of diet, droughts etc. There is also a long list of illnesses and diseases that can have the same symptoms too Your best bet it to make an appointment with an avian vet and get him looked at. In the mean time, get a lamp (25-40 watt globe) and shine it on his cage. the warmth will make him feel better. Give some pure raspberry cordial (casscade is a good brand) in his water and keep him warm and quiet. Photos would be a great help too. Good luck
  24. Awww. what a gorgeous bub and alll the eggs look fertile too she will be one busy mumma
  25. I am so sorry for your loss I agree it sounds like he was having a rough time moulting.
