Hi All Well I had been doing the same thing every day with Zeus..Sitting at his cage, talking to him etc. & he'd happily let me scratch him around the Head & Cheeks.. All was going along GREAT.. But then a few days ago he suddenly got scared of me & I HAD NOT done anything different :budgiedance:. I can put my hand in the cage & he won't go Overly nuts, but he stands back screaching at me & won't let me touch him anymore. When I go to touch him he cowers back in the corner. he is in my bedroom as that's the only place I can keep him away from my Cats & my other birds...They are in a seperate room & I wanted him away from them otherwise whenever I went over to his cage he'd look at them & not pay attention to what I was doing. As far as I know nothing happend to make him scared I keep the door closed so the cats can not get in there.. What can I do to get him to trust me again? & Willl he? he was doing so well & now this .

Hi All thanks :hap: So far so good, though it is going a little slowly, he won't step up on to my finger yet, however he WILL let me scratch him all over the head. He sits there making these little chirping noises, moving his head up, side to side & down so i can get all the 'good' spots. He then grooms my finger. Also when he sees me he whistles out to me which is just too CUTE :hap: But yeah he doesn't quite trust me enough to 'step up' hopefully that will come in time!. I am just loving having a budgie again! he's just delightful

Hi all! well as you may know I am a new member here & just recently got my new little budgie Zeus ..On Sunday to be exact. Well for the first day I decided to just leave him/her be, so as not to scare him/her . Next day I stood near Zeus's Cage & just talked to him, made Kissing noises etc. I did that several times during the day. I then slowly started to introduce my hand & Zeus was not scared, infact the little baby was interested in Looking at my hand!!. I did this over a couple of days while quietly talking etc. All this time though he had been very interested in looking out the bars at the other birds. So today I covered all of the cage except the front with a sheet, so then he has to focus on me. This seemed to work!! I again put my hand in the cage & little Zeusy just sat there!! Then GUES WOT!!???? He let me scratch his head & cheeks with one finger & he went all soft a sweet...with this dazed look!! After that I again left straight away so as not tp push him & then go backwards with training rather than forwards!!... but yeah I was soo excited I HAD to share!!

Hi All! I am New here , I am located in Victoria & share my life with a menagerie of wonderful pets:). Including cockatiels, an Eclectus Parrot, an Alexandrine & I just got a new baby budgie on Sunday. I have been around animals ALL my life & have had budgies in the past too. My new little guy is just 2 weeks out of the nest & I have named him Zeus. I am assuming it's a HIM anyways!!. So far he is not quiet enough to actually SIT on me but when he sees my hand in his cage he'll slowly walk up to it for a look, then he'll walk back to the corner of the cage. If I put my hair against the cage he comes up & chews it .. Also when I put a new toy in his cage he goes & looks at it straight away. he'll also sit there warbling througout the day . He has a yellowish tinge to his face..like instead of the cheek patches being white they have a yellow tinge..will that go white as he gets older? I have never seen them with a yellow tinge in their face.... I am REALLY hoping he gets tame enough to come out of his cage & sit on me etc. As I have not had a tame budgie in AGES, in the past they've always been older when I've gotten them & have never tamed down. For the fist day I just left him alone so as not to frighten him. Then yesterday I would go & stand in fornt of the cage several times in the day & I'd talk to him, blow rasberries, talk stupid.....eg... hey there budgue wudgie!! etc...(He;s going to learn to say some daft things hey?? ).. Today I put my hand in the cage & he wasn't scared at all..he also chewed my hair when when I put my head against the cage.. Anyways here are some photos...am I right in thinking he's a boy?
