  12. Hi all I have 1 breeding pair with 2 chicks (3 weeks old) in our aviary. I am going on holidays in a weeks tine and as it is a community aviary I was woundering If I could shift the whole family to a breeding cage. It would be easier to find the care they might require. Would this be too disruptive for my new parents and chicks.

  15. Hi All just a few questions on aviary breeding. Our community aviary has two beautiful chicks and mum is doing a great job looking after them and keeping the box clean. After breeding do you block off the boxes. Do the parent birds stay together and want the same box nextyear. If the boxes are left open will the young birds breed too soon. I know this kind of breeding is much harder and will try to change things for next year. David
  16. Could someone please tell how I can put photoes of my flock on this sight. All this stuf is a bit new to me .David
  17. I have 6 birds iin an avery. All were sitting on eggs 2 sets had two batches of infertile eggs. one has two babies about 7 days old. I had a case of scaley face with one of the femails and removed her from the cage. She had been in the breeding box for a long time and I thought this may of contributed to her problem. I blocked of two boxes as I thought the birds have been I long enought. Now she is looking better I wounder if I put her back in the avery will she hert the babies or want to take over the nesting box. Would it be safer to waite until the breeding pair finish.

Hi all just a quick introduction. I have recently retired and kept budgies as a youngster. The salvation army I attend has introduced a community garden for this area. I decided that it also would be nice to introduce some birds to the garden. We built a avery and chook pen. I have six birds and 2 babies 2 weeks old no chickens yet.I found the sight very helpful and friendly.keep up the good work. David
  19. I am responsible for our community avery. We have 3 breeding pairs and one set has two babies. The femails have become infected with scaley beak.I spoke to our vet about Ivermectin and he said it was not for birds. Could someone give me more info.
