  1. I took a couple of piccies of Saffy and Morris last night and Morris has decided his latest quirk is to be offended by the camera. Anyway, I thought the piccies were cute so I decided to share Nothing much phases Saffy, she couldnt care less, but she gave Morris a nudge to let him know I was taking pictures......... He then squawked and protested and got all fluffed up about nothing! Conures do this bowing and stretching thing when they are either threatened or flirting. Here he was doing the bowing thing, but it looks more like he's trying to hide behind Saff lol

This is Sugar and George. Sugar has only just come of age and she hasnt really shown a lot of interest in too many fellas, but I took them both to the BBC show Friday night and the judge suggested I put them down together. They stayed in a holding cage for a couple days together, and there didnt seem to be a lot of flirting going on, but I put them in a breeding cabinet today and they settled so quickly it was quite amazing. I put them down just after I had fed all the birds their veggies and they explored their cabinet for about 30 seconds, then got stuck into the veggies, then when I went back to check a little while later, Sugar was in the nest box tapping about, so I have my fingers crossed tight! And munching out on veggies after being put into the cabinet.

You fall in love, you succumb and you just deal with the rest. That's pretty much what happened with me and my sun conure and he still has issues, but I'm still in love

I put 3 pairs down at the same time and 2 pair have eggs. The other pair seem interested, but nothing has happened yet. I will be putting one more pair down tomorrow.......and that is all the room I have at the moment! lol

Thanks guys. My posts dont show my excitement so far, cause its my first really quality pairings and it makes me a little nervous to be quite honest. Its a tad different from throwing pet types all together in a colony situation and they just breed like happy little rabbits lol.

I give my guys frozen corn too, they dont seem to bother much with the peas, I replace them with fresh snowpeas. I zap the corn in the microwave so its not frozen. Corn on the cob, when I give it to them, I give it raw. I give them fresh carrot, only cause I hate frozen carrot, so I dont think it would taste so good to them either lol
  17. I always love and admire your siggys Neat, the new one is gorgeous also

That was my thought too......I dont have too many big cocks but I have some very nice hens lol and as you know, I come up your way quite regularly

The thought crossed my mind to lend you a hen, but my best hens currently not in use are spangles, though I do have a gorgeous cinny grey normal hen who has actually won in shows and she is an 06 bird, throws great offspring and I dont have room to breed her yet, I also bought 2 of her offspring and they are good sized normal cinnamon greens. But as others have said, it might be a bit much for him after being ill.......it's just a thought

I havent had experience with there being a difference in the aggression level of the two types. Just some hens, show or pet types, can be more aggressive than others. My hen with babies at the moment is a pet type and she has bitten me a couple of times when I have gently tried to encourage her to move out the way to look at her babies. I think, like people, all birds just have their own personalities and that doesnt depend necessarily on the type of bird they are

Sorry to hear that Deb. He is probably just concerned cause the events of late have been upsetting for you. I am sure he will come around, they cant keep us budgie gals down forever!!

Hmmm.....thats interesting macka. I was at a friends place the other day - budgie friend of course. She has been breeding for about 12 years and she happened to have picked up a bottle of diet raspberry cordial and was giving that to her birds. The other day, we caught up with an acquaintance who is a breeder and someone who works in the bird industry and show breeds budgies and lovebirds, when my friend mentioned she was using the diet version of the raspberry cordial, he pointed out to her it was the sugar boost that was good for her aviary birds and that she shouldnt be using the diet version but the full version. I also hear that ACV is very good too. It has very good health properties for humans also
  25. How exciting! I bet you cant wait for those eggies to get hatchin'!!
