Thanks Guys, She seems to have settled in really well. She's been in our home for 12 hours now and seems to be taming really quickly!

Hi Guys, this is our new Budgie that we purchased today. The breeder (shop) said its a girl, but it looks like a boy to me??? Hope you like her picture Cheers Paul
  4. Hi Guys, A quick update on Marty. he is almost 2 years old now and as far as taming goes, to this day he is still making progress. The latest thing with him is he is willing to go into any room in the house (this is new). Certain rooms he wouldn't go into before. You can catch him, hold him, play with him as much as you like and he doesn't mind at all. He follows us every where, will land on all members of the family. He really loves technology. He will come to us when we call him etc (even if you call him from another room) He even interacts with visitors! He is well and truely tame. Cheers Paul
  5. Hi Guys, I know its been a while since I last posted but here is the latest on Marty: 1. He is now just over a year old. 2. He loves the whole family and follows us every where. Actually when he is out of the cage he doesn't leave me alone. 3. His Colours have changed, most of the green is gone and he is very yellow now. 4. He doesn't like me holding him and complains the whole time, but he still keeps coming back. 5. He is super tame now and if you call him, he will come out of his cage and fly to you. All in all, he is well and truely a part of the family! I will post some pics when I get a chance. Cheers Paul
  6. Thanks for the info Kaz. That helps a lot. I'm really pleased that Marty hasn't reacted badly to the Worming Gel. He is still playing and getting up to mischief. His 48 hours with the gel will be up around 2:00pm today and so far we have seen him have at least 3 sips Best Regards Paul
  7. Thanks for the info, so far I see any worms in his dropping. Just out of curiosity, how and where do they get worms from?
  8. So are the worms visible in the droppings?
  9. Here is a picture of the young lad

This is Marty and he is five months old now. He is very tame. He loves to get involved when I am working on my PC. He has even destroyed parts of my Laptop, but hey that's okay because he is allowed to
  11. Marty had a drink of his Orange water this morning. I don't think he liked it, but he drank it which is what counts Looks like all is good in the Marty Household.
  12. Thanks Kaz, The dose directly into the crop by crop needle, sounds fantastic and a lot less fussing around. Bummer that you are so far away, but hey you've been very helpful. This forum and its members are the BEST!! Best Regards Paul
  13. Hi Kaz, Thanks for the info. I only just put it in the water a few hours ago. Its orange in color and the water has changed to the same color too. Marty knows there is something fishy going on and is keeping clear of it. I can't see him drinking it. We will keep an eye out to see if he does have a sip, but I'm betting he wont. The instructions say to leave it in the water for 48 hours and only have dry foods in the cage, so as to encourage him to has some water. The guy at Bird City also said to keep an eye on him because 1 in 10000 react badly to this stuff Man this is just like having a child again, so much stress!!!
  14. I tried apples and veggies a while ago and he wouldn't even touch them. I might try again. He doesn't like anything new in his cage. Speaking of which it leads me to the following: Bird City told us we needed to worm him every six months and said he would be due at the begining of this month. So we went to Bird City and purchased Vetafarm Wormout Gel. I followed the directions and added it to water and put it in his cage. The water is now an orange color and he didn't even want to go back into his cage. I put him in there and now he is staying well away from his water. Is this normal, and whats the possibility of him actually drinking some of it? See, I'm back in form with my silly questions again Cheers Paul
  15. We got back from Adelaide and young marty is A-okay!!!! My son has been driving him nuts all this week because he wont leave the poor bird alone for a minute, but then again Marty does seem to be coming back for more. I will post some more pictures of him along with a Youtube video. He is almost 5 months old now
  16. Hi Guys, We've only had Marty for 4 and half months now but here it goes: 1. How old was your budgie (s) when you purchased him/her We purchased him from Bird City at 6 weeks old. 2. If you tamed your budgie right out of the nest, when did you start taming and handling the chick? He didn't come directly from the nest. 3. Was your budgie tame a little or not at all? Not at all. He never ate or drank for the first day and didn't do anything at all in his cage. It was hard to get him out of his cage too. As soon 4. When you tamed your budgie was he the only budgie, or did you buy them in pairs, or was he an addition? Did your first budgie stay tame, and how did the taming go for the additional budgie (s) Marty is our only budgie. Our first successful interaction with him was when I brought him out of the cage and put some seed in my other hand and let him eat. He ate some seed while around us, but was still very jumpy. 5. What is your best tip you can give (don't say everyone else gave good tips (Laughing out loud)) what did YOU find worked well for you and WHY? The big secret in my opionion is just spending a lot of time with your bird. As much as you can. Marty is VERY tame now and he will let almost anyone take him out of his cage and will happily stay with them. We recently went away to Adelaide for the National Taekwondo Championships, so he stayed home on his own for 4 days. When we got home, he was very jumpy again. Not like day one, but still very jumpy. It took a couple of days for him to return to normal again. The big secret is just spend heaps of time with your bird and get him/her use to everyone. When we are home we leave his cage open and he usually comes out when he wants to. His wings are cliped so he can't fly back in, but he manages to get our attention very easily. I hope this is of help. Best Regards Paul
  17. Thanks Guys, I was at my sisters house and we were also checking out little Marty. As soon as it got dark you couldn't see anything. I might set it up so it takes Gallery photos throughout the day, so if we don't make it back to our hotel room in time, we can still look back on his day
  18. Hi Guys, I found the BEST ANGLE to video Marty from. You get a much better view of him from this vantage point. I will let this webcast run for about 8 hours or so. Cheers Paul
  19. Sorry if it the Webcam stops and starts, I've been playing with settings etc. The software I'm using is called WebcamXP and its a 21 day trial, So I'm trying to work out what it can do. I've stopped playing with it for now you can run more than one webcam too. So we might be able to watch him at different angles. This poor bird must think he's ended up in a crazy house! I'm going to leave it on for another 8 hours or so to see how stable it is. If all works out okay, I'll buy a copy Marty isn't too sure about this webcam thing at the cage opening :-)
  20. Thanks for the feedback guys. Thomas my son is crazy about his little Marty . . actually we all are My son and I will be competing at the Australian National Taekwondo Championships soon and my son wanted to be able to keep an eye on his Marty while we are away, so I've been experimenting with a Webcam for him. Looks like we are going to set up a webcam on my laptop and log into it from Adelaide while at the hotel. If you want to check out Marty in real time, have a look At his WEBCAM HERE Best Regards Paul
  21. Hi Guys, Marty is doing well. I took some pictures of him with my son today. http://mayatutorialsthomas.sitesled.com/bu...rtyThomas01.jpg With my son while he practices his keyboard. http://mayatutorialsthomas.sitesled.com/bu...rtyThomas02.jpg On his favorite spot . . my son's shoulder. He seems to be happy to spend hours with him. He hangs out with my wife and I, but if my son is anywhere in sight, he will make his way over to him. I can't believe how good a pet budgies are! Best Regards Paul
  22. Thank you Young Marty seems to have well and truly settled in well with the family. Not sure why, but he seems to really like my son. We leave the cage open at least once and day and when he flies out the first thing he does is to fly to my son's room. If he is there, Marty will stay with him. If not, he comes back to his cage and screens and carries on until I pick him up to put him back in. I've also notice he will fly over to my son and land on him. Well that's the quick progress update on our new family member. Oh, almost forgot to mention, he is getting very loud too! As to Bird City, they have a good range of products and birds. Also their birds were a lot cheaper than what Pet shops sell them for. Its well worth a look. The link for Bird City Best Regards Paul
  23. Hi Guys, A quick update His name is officially Marty, my son named him after Main Character in Back to the Future. Second wing clipped and he is much more stable, I can't believe the poor bird was trying to fly with one wing clipped! Crazy hey? Haven't seen him drink water, but he is eating well and seems to be more than comfortable on us. Thanks for all the help guys. Cheers Paul
  24. This is a great thread guys, really helpful! Will post when I have had our little one a while longer. Cheers Paul
  25. My wife said we should just go there and say we want the other wing clipped too for stability. End of story. I might try, the worse case he can say we are talking ****, so long as the wing is clipped it doesn't matter what he thinks. By The Way: We are leaning towards the name Marty
