  1. I have 2 budgies sharing the same cage. My girls are veggie and fruit fanatics. I give them a variety of fresh produce about 3-5 times a day. I have never had to refresh it because it is gone with in the hour. They both prefer chunks of produce rather then shredded. Is there such thing as too much? Should I cut down or can I continue with there schedule? They do still eat there regular seed and pellet mix.
  2. He is the sweetest little guy.
  3. They are so beautiful. Best of luck with them They all look as if they were posing for you! :hap:

he is so cute, you can just see him thinking!! He is a showoff! (Laughing out loud) he is not camera shy!
  5. Congrats on you new additions they are both very pretty girls
  6. (Laughing out loud) me and the girls have had the coming out talk and Beep just squaks at me. I have a folding down door so I put treats on it to see if they might come out but they eat the treat and hop back in. Thank you for all your responses
  7. I have no idea what kind they are. Beep is very bright in colour. Beep never really chewed on everything until Tundra showed her how. Beep seems to be a totally different bird now, happier healthier and content. She eats veggies now because of Tundra, beep plays all the time now, before it was allot of boredom. they both are not too people social, They love the attention when you talk to them or give them treats and their veggies but don't want to be handled. I do still give them the opportunity to come out of their cage supervised but they don't seem to care much of an open door. :budgiedance:
  8. Thanks Norm. I thought maybe Tundra was a boy because of the blue nostrils but I'm not an expert in small budgies. I used to breed lovebirds, cockatiels, and cockatoos. The budgie thing is still pretty new for me. Are budgies usually chewers? Tundra puts holes in blankets, tears her Rope works off a temporary. perch (honey stick that they have eaten) so I left it in because she is always playing and chewing it. She shreds veggie, which I do expect but all the other mischief seems like alot for a little thing like that! :budgiedance:

    She is a beautiful bird!!
  10. your pets are only as safe as you are responsable. Added care should be taken in both ends of safety. But if you are willing to take that extra step in safety and responsibility it can be very rewarding to have cats and birds, under the same roof.
  11. Introducing our new little love *Tundra the Pudgie Budgie* . Beep ( the Blue) is so very happy to have a friend and after quarintine I introduced them and Beep took Tundra in with open wings, as did the rest of our family. Tundra is much bigger then Beep although it doesn't look like it in the picture. Tundra has a love for carrots and it is so cute because after he's done he is an orange bird! Tundra is about 4-5 months old as far as I can tell so there is not a sure ansure of what sex he is. and my husband says he must be *teething* with all the chewing he does. He likes to destroy! The best thing that could of happened to Beep did. Beep and Tundra are 2 peas in a pod!:budgiedance: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z223/ja...er/IMG_0121.jpg
  12. I have 2 cats and 2 budgies and the spray bottles work wonders. But sometimes I think the budgies egg the cat on to come and see them just to see them get sprayed! My female cat has learned now but they can still get my male in trouble.

Her droppings are normal, olive color, with white, no excessive liquid. I have had Large birds and they were never on just a pellet diet, I offered everything like fresh veggies and fruits, as I do with Beep just in smaller portions of course.

When I say completely on a pellet diet I mean a tropican budgie mix it does have seed as well as fruits and other goodies. She eats a variety of fruit and veggies. I have completly removed her from a strickly seed diet. Which she was obviously on since weened. I live in Northwest Territiories in Canada with now only 1 vet here for about a 500 miles or so, and he does sled dogs and cats. Not much of an option. I might just chat with a vet down south and see what I can do :hap: and as for the picture, still working on it!! (Laughing out loud) very computer illiterate!! Thanks for the replys!! Jackie

I have a 9mth old female named Beep, I just got her at the begining of may from someone in which the novelty wore off. I switched her from a seed to a pellet diet slowly. She is now completly on pellets. She is active, and happy, and talks ALOT. Everything seems normal except her vent gets dirty. She cleans herslf all the time. we don't have an avian vet here.and I will never take a bird to an unexperienced vet. Any ideas or opinions would be great. Thank you very much Jackie :hap:
  16. unfoutunatly Beep is not hand tamed. But she is inquisitive and she is interested and she isn't to skiddish but she just doesnt want to be handled so I am taking it slow and not pushing myself on her I'll post a picture as soon as I know how! (Laughing out loud)
  17. how true! you absoulutly hit the nail smack on its head! ! Love it!
  18. Hello everyone, first of all , I love this site!! Great job! Secondly I'm new to this site and relatively new to budgie care. I have had great experiences with breeding and caring for larger birds, like cockatoos, cockatiels and lovebirds, but have never had a budgie. My new little budgie is a young one and was given to me by someone in which the the novelty wore off. I chose to take her for my love of birds. Her/ his age is unknown but was said to be under a year. *Beep* is not trained nor does he/she come out of her cage. I would like to change that. She has been with us for a week now and she is the cutest little thing. Beep loves to be talked to, but I would love to be able to have her out and around us. Beep is adjusting well and has sunk into our family like a natural. If you have any ideas for me on how to get her alittle more socialable it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
