My First Club Auction
That's not bad price Kaz as for the auction that was here in Laverton on the 22nd November I think the highest paid was $2,000 I think it was a Clint Ault bird from Bob Smith line Might be wrong about who's bird but that was roughly the price and most of the other birds went for $600. up. Way out of my league

Cannabilised Eggs
I hate an Albino that destroyed her nest just before hatching and all the eggs were full and alive she had blood on her beak, so she went down again but I took her eggs off her then I put her out in the aviary for a couple of months and tried her again and she was fine layed 6 eggs and raised them. She 2 years old and had had previous nest the year before so I put it down to not being ready.

Wooden Aviaries...

Some Of My Babies From 2008
Here are some pics of my babies for 2008 This nest has 3 white double Factor Spangles full sister to my bird that got 2 nd at the shield and the pied is from another pair This is the oldest one out of the nest above and look at the feather she has. The 3 are cinnamon too and most likely opaline This like Green opaline spangle is going to be one big bird and nice too I hope she is the only one left out of the nest of my WOW bird and sky hen 100% watson, The hen squashed one and I found the dead looked like it was asleep it was 19 days old the the other was feather plucked and she was to old to foster so I tried feeding her but she died. This one a grey green Cinnamon opaline is going to very nice too, her sister was better but she died at 5 weeks her bile duct was blocked we did an autopsy and her brother was a mop. Hope you like :ohmygod:

Cannabilised Eggs
I also agree with Neville. :ohmygod: One solution is to make a fake concave and put it in your nest box about a inch higher than the bottom. Drill a hole in this concave big enough for the eggs to fall through but make sure there is something soft underneath to catch the egg like saw dust then foster out the eggs or as she lays them take them away and replace them with marbles. Good luck

Breeding In The New Year
Dave that is so sad about Big Boy. About your breeding split opaline to opaline is a good mating for size etc. Just thought I would add my little bit :ohmygod: If you are breeding for show it is not such a good idea to put a double factor to a cinnamon because the judges don't like cinnamon spangles. But then I guess she is a pied so you maybe looking for a pretty nest like me , this year I put down yellow face sky blue spangle and a cobalt spangle and I got the most exciting nest ever ( Yellow face white double factors x 2, yellow face sky blue cinnamon spangle, cobalt spangle, yellow cobalt opaline, cobalt, cobalt cinnamon spangle etc it was so good and half of them are really good looking birds showable. But then it is up to you as cinnamon does give you feather.

Another Rescue Mission...success!
The finches look great Trish :ohmygod: You are doing an excellent job with them , can't wait to see the clean decorated cage

Cement Floors
That sounds like hard work Hills all the stamping :ohmygod: Don't you mix the dolomite and cement together? When I did the holding room I just mixed the sand and cement together using a rake then levelled it out then sprayed it with water did have to stamp it and it set rock hard.

Mite Prevention
That's good Neat, I just sprinkle a bit under each concave after cleaning nest. Some breeders sprinkle it under his trays in the breeding boxes but I haven't as yet. :ohmygod:

Mite Prevention
I don't know if any one uses this but I thought I would make a new post and tell you all that I use this Pestene powder under my false nest concaves. It is meant to keep lice and etc away and as far as I know it does work. I have use it for 2 years now and have never had any feather mite or anything sinister, one of my club members put me onto it. He has used it for years. Some breeders put it under their trays also but I don't.

I Can Breed With Young Budgie
I am totally late on this topic but I second this a millon times over

Cement Floors
Hills is dolamite fine powder or coarse like sand' So eveb though I put pure cement over top if the birds eat it ot nibble or chew at it it will not hurt them. Here are a couple of pics of my finished project. But I am still going to experiment on my aviaries because I want more of a cement look. I will keep in contact when I start.
