  1. I am no good at this but the first one looks grey wing which I don't breed so I am not sure but is also looks spangle maybe opaline. The second looks grey wing too but not as much the wings look more white so maybe spangle but then it doesn't really look that much like spangle marking. the second one looks yellow face too. LOL how wrong am I
  2. I was unluckily, Ron's bird went for a lot at the Bendigo auction, there was one that I was after but a breeder put his card up and it stayed up, he was getting that bird no matter what. But I paid $160 for the best cock and $80 for the other. When you go to Ron's his birds start at $100. so I did okay and because they are from family of his National bird winner I thought why not. I have 3 little chicks from the best one at the moment, I lost all the chicks from the other one but at least they both fill eggs.
  3. Kind of like Brad Pitt with the charm of Sean Connery, you won't miss me:blush: Yeah sure lol
  4. LOL. There will be a report after Sunday. Mine won't perch either, will have to take desperate steps tomorrow to encourage them to perch because I am running out of time.
  5. I am hoping to Renee but not getting my hopes up to much because there are better birds out there, at the shield we are against Victoria's top breeders, you know the Champion breeders. And the spangle class is a very strong class as is the blue so I am not expecting much, but in the top ten would be wonderful.
  6. Update on my breeding. Today I empty out more breeding cages, still have a few more to go. But I have these nest going... Nest one is white df spangle / sky spangle (father/daughter) pairing. The hen is on her own because the white boy has taken sick. Anyway they had 5 fertile eggs and so far only one hatched, and ino egg was in there too and it hatch. the rest of the eggs have poop all over them a dirty hen anyway I don't think they will hatch, so very disappointing because the white boy (my grand champion) has gone light but I think he is improving. I have him on a cocktail of meds. nest 2.. sky spangle / sky spangle.. waiting on eggs , thinking of taking them out. nest 6 .. dilute/ dilute and there are at least 4 dilutes nest.. cobalt / violet opaline.. cousins. 2 egs. nest 9.. Dom Pied / light green cinn... there are 3 chicks in there, one is light green pied and maybe another pied and I think one is a split ino (fostered). Nest 11.. Sky Violet spangle/ dark green Dom pied.. so far 2 little chicks. nest 12.. 3 light greens I think (fostered) parents.. light green (Ron Blizzard cock) and grey green cin hen. nest 14.. Sky violet yellow face / grey hen. 2nd cousin/ 1st cousin pairing... they have 1 little chicks so far more eggs to hatch. nest 15 .. Violet / sky..(father / daughter) relations. 2 eggs so far. Nest 20.. grey green spangle/ yellow df spangle. nephew/ Auntie mating. filled 3 eggs but fostered. nest 21 .. Violet green / sky violet spangle.. 2 little chicks but 1 hatched today and died, more eggs to hatch Now some pics , sorry they are poor quality Dark green, there were 7 dark greens and 1 violet in the same nest, most of them hens more later
  7. Not to hard Macka, I 'm not that far from the floor you no lol. I just hope my car gets me there because I have all the paper work and stickers for our cages. scary.
  8. What do you look like Dan? I will keep my eye out. I am blonde (greyish) lol and short and urgggg fat now. Winter was not nice to me, now I can't take my sweater off.
  9. I have a couple of Rons birds here from his National winning birds , half brothers from memory, I bought them at the Bendigo auction, The best one I bought for the length of mask. Both light green cocks.
  10. They look like they are going to really good Dan, well done, are they from Petes birds or where you bought the other from.
  11. Hey Macka i counted the birds and there are only 14 going lol, 3 members had birds because most members birds were to old or to young, I only had the 3. I am scratching the hen. Unless she picks up by the Friday.
  12. You have some lovely chicks Dave , they should develop into some really nice birds, well done, Looks like things are picking up for you. The dogs are real little cuties by the way.
  13. Yes Dave will let you all know how I go. I just hope I place in the top 10 that would be great, even top 20 would be good too. They don't like to perch though, the hen is the only one that will behave herself. Dan actually the light green spangle is the best, he has the lost above the head at this stage. then hen does too but she is smaller, but next year she will be a handy outcross for my DF spangles. The grey cin op hen has a wonderful head, a real Watson/Mannes head but she is smaller than the others. The day I took the photo she was great but she has lost weight since then.So she probably won't go.
  14. That's what I thought Kaz but the body colour is a bit rich for dilute so they must be grey wing, I am probably wrong though.lol
  15. Cross your fingers for Sunday Kaz. I have to do a report on the shield for our newsletter but I am meeting up with Gb and we are having dinner together at Northland. looking forward to it, just hope my car doesn't let me down . Or Greg will driving a long way to save me lol
  16. splat replied to **KAZ**'s topic in Budgie Pictures
Yes Kaz he is a good breeder, I had one of his pied a beautiful grey pied but he never bred for me so I moved him on, Not John's fault because I bought him as a young bird. He is really a nice bloke too.
  17. All 3 got in but there were many birds there , like no competition. But my sky and green spangle were the pick of the birds at the selection and by far the biggest birds there. The sky is bigger than some of my adult birds. I think there were only about 20 birds in our team, Kyabram will come last on points but at least we have a team. There were a few good birds there but there were also some not so good birds. But they are all going. I could of took more and they would of being selected but I need to keep my reputation up LOL, Like I have a violet cock but at this stage very ordinary but much better than the other blues that are going but I don't want anyone seeing **** birds from me after I have won the shield with his grandfather a violet as a young bird and this violet just doesn't have that wow factor like his grandfather. So I am happy to go with the 3 but I might pull out the cinn op yet if she doesn't hold her weight.
  18. Today we had our shield selection, I took along 3 birds. Sky cock Lt green spangle Grey Cinnamon Opaline Hen, she has a lovely head, but she is on the small side and she hasn't a lot of weight on her so I might scratch her yet. The spangle and the sky are really big birds the sky the biggest. I can't take this fella, the light green spangles brother, he was plucked on the back of the head by in the breeding cage and now has pin feathers
  19. Hello and Welcome to the Forum
  20. Pretty chicks Finnie
  21. you are lucky. i don't have much room here
  22. lol no I don't Flip, just not doing the house work etc. lol. I only spend about an all up a day doing this. All that work is over week or more. I am just desperate to put the babies in the aviary. still have heaps to do yet. I have all my adults in one aviary and it is crowded and I have another dozen to bring out of the birdroom but no room for them. I use to have hens in one aviary and cocks in the other and my little middle aviary holds culls but I had the babies in there but they were going nutty. So I put all the adults together and put the babies in the large aviary and I already notice the difference in their behavior.
  23. Hi all.. Well I have been very busy, I have done the door put mouse proof wire on the 3 doors and the aviary. sealed inside aviary next to the garage. Gave it a bit of a rough paint job too. Door the way it was. the way is is now, have to admit I think I did a great job with door really happy with it. Outside of door looking in The door between aviary and birdroom Before the wire went on looking into the aviary from outside Part of aviary with the mouse proof wire Sealing the roof one piece to go Now I have to fill up the gaps from the corragated iron with the foam stuff and then screw some wire from the roof frame to the garage using some box aluminum so the birds can't get to it. I think I have found all the places mice can it . I still have the kitchen area to do yet.
  24. Thanks Kaz but there are only a few good ones, but yes I am happy , better results in the quality than the last 2 years, I have to wonder what would of been if I didn't loose all those chicks because there were about 15 from the yellow df sp, father of out white boys and there were about 10 to the white boy and they were to father daughter, grandfather daughter ect. And the sky babies dad had 6 fertile eggs to his niece and they all died too. But I know you know how it feels.
