He likes Jacquie.. I'll get her to talk to him Feathers.
  2. I loved a good carrot face, Cookie is an over-achiever with all those veggies on her face AirchairAngel, you can get those ferris wheels without the stand that go onto a perch too. The birds love them.

I'm still interested. Can it be delivered with my budgies? or will it fit on the back of my wheelchair? Feathers.
  4. Yep, budgies can go up to 10 days without water, but will start to die after 8 hours with no seed. Feathers.
  5. Weel done bubblegum They are good looking babes. Feathers.
  6. Hi Cheeta, I'm sure you were automatically invited. I heard you haven't been feeling well, hope you are better now. As for the budgie count, Jacquie and I figured that we now had more. The last budgie that I got off Paul, a large mauve-grey, is called Beachu (Beat you) It is really worth it. It's good for me too as it gets me up and out of my room. I have been spending a good deal of time out on the patio watching them flit to and fro. All of the peppermint I put in for them was all gone by Thursday afternoon, so yesterday they snacked on corn on the cob and bok choy. It's not such a bad life - if you're a bird. Feathers.
  7. That is their absolute favourite toy. There is always a budgie or three on it. I am really looking forward to meeting you. Next weekend is better than not at all Feathers.
  8. Both look creamino, last one is female, top looks male, but can't see cere closely enough to be sure. Feathers.
  9. You'd think she knows she's a supermodel with some of those poses. Pretty girl Feathers.

Nerwin's advice is very good. Especially the need for once month quarantine for the new birds. It would be heartbreaking to put the new birds in with Chip, only to discover the new bird(s) have a contageous condition that could mean illness or death for any or all of them. I have just moved 20+ budgies from an indoor environment to a new aviary outside. They are all looking very happy and healthy 3 days on. They also seem to be thriving with the freedom to fly whenever they like instead of waiting for their out of cage time inside. Feathers.
  11. I'm just adding some that I already have uploaded on photobucket for now Dekota - 8wk female (Note white around nares) Dekota - 3 mths female (same budgie as above - cere is now nearly all light beige) Dekota - 5 mths female (again - same budgie - cere is now tan as she is going into breeding condition) Oh-oh - 8wk male (colour around nares is NOT bright white - therefore male) Tealah - 4 mths female (a bit tricky, but light blue indicates female) Keely - 4mths female (tan cere - going into breeding condition) Keely - 3mths female (same budgie as above but out of breeding condition cere is light blue with some light areas) Beau - 4 months male (cere even blue all over) Zanthie - 3 months male (reccessive pied budgie - all over pink cere) Daddy - 2 yr male (dark blue cere indicates in breeding condition) Feathers.

He is a real stunning bird, and my daughter's absolute favourite. She has had cuddles with BIG Vinnie a couple of times. It's a bit hard to 'sneak' him out of the aviary without being noticed Feathers.
  13. Great photos Bea. I'm with your fav. I love flying shots like that when they are coming towards the camera on an upbeat. Feathers.
  14. RIP little chicky..... Feathers.

Welcome to the forum, your flock is lovely. Feathers.
  16. Thyanks everyone. They are so happy out there. I was so worried about them coping with being 'outside'. They are very protected though, being under the patio and having shadecloth from the roof to the ground. The peppermint has been entirely demolished and we had a brave visiting pigeon looking for seed on the ground outside the cage being chased away by my dogs. Good idea, I need to get my hammock and hammock stand back off my brother, at the moment I have a couple of patio chairs in front of it. As for the pellets, small packets of them here are really expensive, so, no - no pellets. I make sure they get plenty of vegies and high quality seed instead. Karen (Bubbles) had told me about the problem of birds going in the top. I was looking around for a bowl when I thought of these containers. I buy them in bulk in winter to store soups in the freezer. Karen, they are in budgie heaven. Thanks for the branches. They will love them as they have always had them in their cages. Thank you all. They are definitely happy and I am so pleased that I got to the point where I really needed an aviary. Feathers. ps. Thanks to those who hoped I would be feeling better. I am okay at the moment and should be back to normal by the weekend, I hope.
  17. That 3rd picture is so cute Feathers.
  18. Beaker and Rubi are soo cute. Thanks for sharing, and welcome Feathers.
  19. Hi all, Well yesterday was BBD Sorry it has taken me so long to put up photos Sometimes I forget I am not normal when I get excited about things. Obviously getting the aviary together has been one of those things. Yesterday I was in such bad condition my 14 yr old dressed me and I had to stop on the way to hydro to get my 18 yr old to put up my hair at her workplace So Jacquie and Nathan put the budgies in for me around 4pm (the sun doesn't go down until around 8 - 9pm at the moment so they had plenty of time to look about). For some reason they put in the budgies from one of my quarantine cages, so I had to take them out again, but as they were from PaulH I didn't panic about it. Sailor, Karen has some natural branches for me, so they will go in very soon. Anyway, here are the photos, with no commentary as it hurts to type right now Hope you like them, Feathers.
  20. That is fantastic news, I'm really pleased for you both Feathers.
  21. Thanks, I am suffering for it tonight... my hands haven't been this sore for a long time, but it is for the budgies I got the feeder from a pet store in Maddington, but I have seen them in Cannington too. I think most big pet stores would have them. The water dispenser was about $14.00 and the food dispenser about $8.50. I have no idea why the water one was so much more expensive. I'll be getting pics I hope they enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed doing it for them. Feel free to steal the skipping rope idea, Nerwen. A lot of the great ideas came from my 14 year old daughter, Jacquie. She would pick up all sorts of things and say "What about this?" She found the bamboo lattice. Feathers.
  22. They are really pretty babies. Feathers.
  23. First thing tomorrow morning is BBD Can't wait. I figured it was better than putting them in just before bed time. It sure is a skipping rope. There are 2 of them in there. The second one is close to the front and is in a V shape. A lot of the stuff we got was from a discount store and $2 stores. The bamboo lattice was the most expensive item, at $5.00. Most of the small toys, dog toys and skipping ropes were $2.00 each. Karen, I found the perfect size containers to use to stop budgies going in to the dispensers. I have put 2 slits in the top and used a long cable tie so that it can be lifted for filling. I have lots of these containers at home if you want some. 18 hours to go before budgie infiltration Feathers.
  24. Here are the final photos before BBD (Big Budgie Day), when all the birds not in quarantine go into the aviary When my son gets home the final job will be done - meshing the end section window. Yipee! Feathers.
  25. That is brilliant news, Bea. You've done really well to get him through to this point. Congrats. Feathers.
