  1. I think it is your screen Elly, try to adjust it, as normally you are spot on, but a few times lately you have been seeing things differently to most others.
  2. It looks really dark to me too, Marlon. I still think Olive. Feathers.
  3. Hi Marlon, I have not come across metal nestboxes, so I have no idea about those. But I don't think it matters what the nestbox is made of, as long as the hen feels comfortable with it and sees it as a safe place to lay eggs. In the wild they use hollows in trees. They would use a shoebox if that is all that was available and they wanted to have a family. Feathers.
  4. Sounds like you have a bit of a wait until she comes into breeding condition, Dave. It is good that she is bonding with her partner though. Feathers.
  5. Kiky looks like she's having fun. Nice photo. Feathers
  6. I agree completely about quarantining your new budgie, for his health and safety, and for your existing birds too. There is information about quarantine here: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...=131&artlang=en I agree with Nerwn. I can't see the clearflight mutation on him. From what I can see with that photo though, he is definitely a YF2 Opaline spangle. Feathers.
  7. Hi Kevin, how big is the cage? Maybe they are fighting as they are competing for space? Females can get a bit nasty with each other, especially if they are in breeding condition and feel like someone else is invading 'their' space. If the fighting gets too nasty you may need to separate them. Feathers.
  8. Great job, Dave. It looks absolutely fantastic. Putting the breeding cages into the old aviary is a much better solution than in the garage. No need to worry so much about all the fumes etc. Your budgies are going to love it. Feathers.
  9. Fantastic Dave, it was quite a nice aviary from memory. Well done. [patiently awaits photos] Feathers.
  10. In the show world it is used to describe budgies with 2 dark factors. In that picture Kiky does look like an olive green recessive pied to me Amazing how different, photos of the same bird can look. Feathers.
  11. Hi Jules, well done for at least getting these guys into a clean cage. From what you have said I would imagine that the hen has plucked herself. Some brooding hens do this on purpose so that there is good heat transfer from herself to the eggs. She is just trying to be a good mum. How long has she been sitting on these eggs? If it is way past due time for them to hatch then remove the eggs altogether. It may be a good idea to separate the male and female budgies to stop her from egg laying again. Feathers.
  12. All looking fantastic. I'm loving the 3rd green chick. I don't need to tell you how sweet Jojo is and how much I love Mammoth Feathers.
  13. They are just so darned cute! Feathers.
  14. To each his own. I believe that to clip or not to clip is an issue that has to be considered for each different bird and their situation. It does sound like if you wish for them to have the freedom they had in Avian Suites (Love that name), it would be best to have Cupid and Psyche clipped, as much for their safety as anything else. No one has to right to question or criticise, especially after you have so seriously considered the pros and cons before making your decision. You have my wholehearted support whichever way you decide to go Feathers. ps. give baby a kiss for me
  15. Hi there, you have some lovely birds and you obviously like the crested variety as well. I thought Argentina and Iceland were beautiful birds too. Feathers.
  16. Congratulations on the eggs!! Feathers.
  17. Hey, Kaz and I learnt that at our MBC meeting this week! Feathers
  18. Not good Bea Fingers crossed that they are both okay, or the vet has a good remedy for whatever is ailing him . Feathers.
  19. Hiya Jules, I was just thinking about you earlier today. Did you ever get some rope perches? Also very pleased to hear that your babies are well. You didn't say what type of bird your friend has... Feathers.
  20. Kaz, on this forum, also has a Jojo Feathers.
  21. I really hope that it stays that way Feathers.
  22. Feathers replied to **KAZ**'s topic in Budgie Pictures
Yay for Mammoth! I got to share some head scratchies with her yesterday So much feather on that girl. Feathers.
  23. I still love baby 1 They all are.. so beautiful Feathers.
  24. Hi Paul, I use vetafarms 'wormout gel'. I know that vetafarm products are available at a lot of pet stores. I know that it works as during my birds recent treatment I checked the poops on the aviary floor and saw that I had a few small curly ones amongst the normal ones. The noise in the aviary also increased after treatment. Feathers.
  25. Ahh, thank you for the extra information. I do know where Punjab is I don't know of any chemicals or preparations that keep mice away. Feathers.
