Egg And Eggshell
I have just given mine a mixture of oats, calcivet (calcium suppliment), whole boiled egg (blended shell and all), carrot and brocolli. I don't microwave the shell. It doesn't last long. Feathers.

Help!
Hi Elyse, I have no idea how I missed this thread before, but reading through it, Frisky is such a sweety and looked so cute with her leg sticking straight out in front with that splint on. At least it was colour coordinated. I'd love to see the pics of how she is doing now. She will be very happy to not have the splint on and will adjust to her new leg quickly. Feathers.

yep. That's it! Sorry, I don't see it there... His flights have spangle markings, whereas a clear flight has NO markings at all and I am unsure where you are seeing the pied markings. Feathers

Aloe Vera Plant
Makes sense to me. There is nothing better on most wounds than getting hold of a cut aloe vera leaf to rub on it. It works as a disinfectant and promotes healing. If it is good enough for us, it must be good for the birds too. You have to love mother nature, she has a solution for everything. Feathers.

Are These Budgies, The Mutations I Wrote?
It sure is, Marlon. Buddy looks to be a YF2 Cobalt opaline spangle and Cherry looks like a YF2 skyblue opaline cinnamonwing. Feathers

Here Is My New Budgie
I just LUV the second picture of Buddy. He's such a little cutie... looks like one of my violet opaline spangles, except for the yellow face part. I am really pleased that you are going to quarantine, even after seeing the vet, as these little tykes are very good at hiding their diseases. The stress of being in a new environment will sometimes bring out some of their health issues a week or two into their quarantine time. Feathers.

Software
I like The Budgerigar Program 2006. I know of people who like and use the Bird Tracker program, but I have not come across the other 2. You can download a working trial programme for The Budgerigar Program if you wish to assess it. You can put up to 200 birds on an unregistered program but you are unable to access all of the features, however you can see what it is capable of. It has a very user friendly interface and doesn't use up a lot of your system resources to run. A lot of exhibition breeders that I am aware of use this program. Feathers.

Here Is My New Budgie
Hi Marlon. I got three new exhibition birds from a top breeder in the state last week. This is a person that I know, I have seen his aviary and I know how he cares for his birds. The very first thing I did was to put them into a quarantine cage. Now, I seriously doubt that they have a major health condition, but I can't guarantee that. I will not risk the health of my other 47 budgies by putting them in until I am quite satisfied that they are all okay. If they look good in 30 days time, they will go in. If I am even slightly suspicious that they may be even a little bit unwell, they stay out. It really is that simple. You need a second cage to quarantine your birds. The reason we are all harping on about it so much is because we have people here who have lost a lot of birds when they decided against putting their new bird in quarantine. No one wants that to happen to you! Feathers.

Hi I'm New
Hi Cinder, welcome to this wonderful BBC forum. It's great to see you on here, as a new budgie owner, asking lots of questions. It shows how much you must care for your new pet They are only little but there is an awful lot to learn about them Have fun here and always remember there is no such thing as a stupid question. Aloe Vera Plant
Hiya Ram, I was just wondering why "all' of your birds had tight leg rings. Are these birds that you rung yourself? Maybe you used bands that were meant for a smaller bird, like a finch. The only other time bands need to be removed usually, is when the bird has a foot or leg infection and it is swollen. Feathers.
