  1. Chryso, was there ever a need to doubt that these two wouldn't get along? Great Pics Nice mummy head scritchies! Feathers.
  2. Hi Vicki, Great photos.... lovely clarity.. oh, and I love the budgies too Feathers.
  3. Hi there Sneak, welcome to you, Mr sneak and your feathered friends, It's great to have you here and I look forward to more photos! Feathers.
  4. Hi Dude's Mum, welcome to the BBC forum, I hope you have as much fun here as I do. Feathers.
  5. Chryso, that was so lovely. Stories like that do make us appreciate what we have more. I am sure she would love to see flocks of beautifully coloured birds in the wild. NickNack, it sure is a wonderful world! Feathers.
  6. Funny NickNack... I was waiting for someone to comment on the upside down budgie. That df spangle was arguing with a BIG grey over who had rights to that particular section of skipping rope... He lost and then came back a little later for his share You don't miss much, do you?? :fear I had looked around for some like these for 12 months before I saw it. It was the only one the zoo shop had and they didn't know if they could get more in. I looked around in bird stores and hardware stores for bird feeders. I was SO happy when I found this one... I want two more, let me know if you find some, Dave.... Feathers.

Maesie, wow! It looks great, so much better than before, no wonder you were feeling a bit proud of yourself. It's fantastic. The birds do look really happy to be home again, don't they :fear Throwing you a big high five! Feathers.
  8. Kristy, I love wet budgies :fear I love the picture of the green bird in the second photo... Kazumi had a bath today, if I get a chance I will find a couple of pics to upload tomorrow. Thanks for sharing Feathers.
  9. Hey Norm, Good colour (if it is true to life) in the yellow BES chicks, they will feather up even better with a moult, well done, nice looking birds. It looks like you have some nice split TCB birds to work with too. Feathers.
  10. Should we start writing up the boards ready for the picket line in front of their house now? Feathers.
  11. You and me both.. I can see I'll be catching a lot of trains to out Kaz's way to see what's popping out!! Maybe when I eventually move I should head her way! Feathers.
  12. He is certainly a fighter. He has a bit of a perch every now and then, with most of his weight supported by his left foot, but the right foot is obviously not limp as it looked like it was clasped around the perch as it should. I took a couple of photos, but not wanting to use the flash and too lazy to get out the tripod, they weren't too good. Maybe a photo tomorrow. He is spending most of the time sleeping on the bottom of the hospital cage, he is eating and drinking normally and poops are normal. I checked his crop before he settled in for the night yesterday and earlier this evening and that was fine, not full as a 'goog', but not empty either. As he has obviously decided this isn't the end of the line I did give him a crop dose of poly-aid plus and I will start doing him some egg food form tomorrow too. Holding him, he has more energy than he did yesterday, so we will just wait and see... Feathers.
  13. It's a really nice place to be if you are a budgerigar lover Feathers.
  14. Neat, you're a big scaredy-cat Most of the time I wear a thin pair of woolen gloves, especially for hens that are bitey. But that is because of my pain condition... if I get bitten it can flare up and I need extra pain killers. They work fine and you still have good feel of the birds. Feathers.
  15. Hi there Vamp, I'm with Elly. If you don't have a plan for any babies that might hatch, then it is best to not create them in the first place. Putting a breeding box inside the cage could create problems with the other two in there as well. They would be better off separated into a breeding cabinet or another cage. You can buy fake eggs at bird shops. If she is going to keep trying maybe provide a spot where she can lay eggs and as they are laid remove them, addle them and throw them away and replace them with a fake egg. Let her sit on her clutch for a few weeks and then remove them. Hope this helps. Feathers.
  16. This is a really good point. I had one bird that escaped her cabinet three times. Had the cabinets not been in an enclosed space I might have lost her. Feathers.
  17. Awww, Nicknack, what a magic moment for both of you It is such a nice feeling when they respond to your love of them... Feathers.
  18. Hi Hoppy, isn't that interesting... I have a 'normal green' that has thrown chicks with some blue feathers like that, underneath around the vent area. Feathers.

Hi Throwback, It is looking absolutely fantastic! You have given me a lot of food for thought! Between yours and Daz's birdhouses I have a lot of great ideas for when I eventually move. Feathers.
  20. Hi Neat, I currently have my cabinets in an aviary outside. Works well as they can still see and hear the aviary birds which keeps them stimulated. Feathers.
  21. Hi Daz, no, Oh-Oh is definitely a dilute spangle, no cinnamon at all. Quite a pretty little bird in person. Has been pretty much mated for life with a YF skyblue. Feathers.
  22. Thanks Maesie and Elly, That is one of three vegie feeders I use. The other two are (probably quite expensive) Maxwell Williams condiment dishes. I have been looking around for something like this one for ages, I finally found it in the gift shop at Perth Zoo. Kaz had some similar ones that I have coveted from afar for a while. I have never had a problem with ants, Maesie, but this would have to give your birds a head start over them, surely? Pie I saw Paul popped up on line last week. He is still about, just a little quieter right now. Feathers.
  23. Yup It was an extra special cock too! Murphy's Law of Budgerigars... Feathers.

Hi Derek, It is so great to have you here. I look forward to reading all about your new journey into breeding budgerigars. Feathers.
  25. Kaz, will you do pet type and exhibition budgies? The weight above is what you would expect in an exhibition budgie. Feathers.
