  1. Ikon, very nice birds... like everyone else I absolutely love the chick, great potential. I have been down to Kaz's post office and put in a re-direction order Feathers.
  2. Jimmy, Keisha got it in one He was one of the budgies born when the breeding room was next to mine and he was always singing to me Feathers.
  3. Norm, good question. I can't remember whether he had opaline chicks... will have to check my records. The only one of his 3 chicks I kept was my very first born, a YF normal skyblue. 2 chicks in the nest this morning. I have a couple of eggs in the nest of Cammie, my TCB hen, paired with a lutino. I have also just thrown out the eggs from 3 failed nests, 2 of which were my BES hen and BES cock. Dissapointing, but I believe it would have been due to a very late hot spell we had here earlier this month. I wouldn't have sat around all day in a nest if I was a hen either. Feathers. Kaz, way to go, George and Amira!!
  4. Kaz, Sounds like you got a clone of me sent out to take the pics. But ONLY 500 photos I'm sure they will look great.. can't wait to see you, and your broom broom, in print!! Pretty new one that you've bought too, remind me again (too lazy to look)... what year is the current cadi? *hugz* pretty lady! Aly
  5. Kaz, you know me, I would rather err on the side of caution every time. My YF boy probably didn't really need to spend any time in the hospital cage a couple of weeks ago, but I would rather be over cautious and look stupid than have a dead bird because I thought I was over-reacting. Thank you to all of you, who I know truly care and were pulling for him. We have had a couple of losses here lately and it really does affect us all. It's part of what I love about this place, people really do care... Feathers.
  6. I read this in a PM from Elly this morning. I don't know about the rest of you, but personally, I believe that we already have the best Budgerigar FAQ section to be found anywhere on the internet. SOOooo much work was put into it originally and then a HUGE campaign last year with Elly hounding a couple of us to near DEATH, editing old ones and writing new ones. I think you should be applauded, Elly. So here's a pat on the back for you... now get on with it, because even the best can get better ! Feathers. ps: you know I luv you girl!
  7. Funny, isn't it?? Some of them LOVE water and some try their best to avoid it. Even in boiling hot weather spraying the aviary birds, some LOVE to get totally drenched and some fly off. I must admit though, I do really enjoy giving Kazumi a bath. I just put it down and stand back. Kazumi was playing about for 20 minutes and the water was just pouring off the table. He seems to have a thing about really wanting to get the feathers on his back saturated too. That is why I topped up to the water, not expecting him to get under the stream from the bottle Too funny. Feathers.
  8. Hi Jenene, I imagine the warm weather played a part too. I hope you have more success in the next round. Feathers.
  9. Hi Libby, I love your work I really like the sunset picture.. it is soo beautiful Feathers
  10. Chryso, Wow, how talented are you. Clever, intelligent, beautiful and now artistic. Geez, where will it end?? By The Way: I LOVE how you signed your name on the blue gryphon picture. Feathers.
  11. Dave, I am exactly the same. I hate to lose ANY animal. I am pleased to see it has picked up a bit for you again now, the chicks are looking good. Feathers.

Hi Lea, Beautiful birds, but I really love Lotta.. she is VERY pretty. Welcome to the BBC forum Feathers
  17. Hi again, Given that it is usually really hard to see the violet colour of a bird in a photo, I would definitely say violet. He is a very beautiful boy. As for the fright with the dog, my heart leapt when I read it as I lost a budgie I had only had for one day when my son let a cat into the room where he was quarantined. The cat knocked over the cage, the door flew open and my son found him out that back in the cat's mouth, dead. He was completely unharmed, so I think the fall was what killed him, didn't make me feel any less sick in the stomach about it though. I am so glad that Dude seems to be okay. Feathers.
  18. Hi Tam, the very first time I gave him a bath it took him a little while to really get going, but since then he just jumps straight in. He LOVES water. I often see him trying to squeeze into his water dish. He is a bit unusual in just how drenched he likes to get though. Feathers.
  19. Elly, that photo is of the new mummy when she was a baby last year. The new bub is still a pink Jellybean. I would be happy if she made some that looked like her though. Feathers.
  20. Thanks Squee, really good tips, Chryso, as per usual. Thankyou. I usually use hold 1 unless I am crop feeding, which is when I use hold 2. Feathers.
  21. Hi there, sorry I can't help, being in Perth, but maybe if you asked around, or had a look at specialist bird stores. Feathers,.
  22. Yep, I thought the same as Elly, definitely looks violet to me Very pretty. Feathers.
  23. Hi, Sorry, I forgot Missy asked for his age. He is a gold rung budgie, born in 2006. He has been eating and pooping as per normal so I was no longer worried that he was about to keel over. After watching him for the past couple of days I decided to put him back in the aviary today and see how he coped. He flew straight off and had a quarrel with a young budgie over HIS turf on a perch. I sat out there most of the afternoon and he was as happy as larry! Thankfully the right side weakness seems confined to the leg only now and I am hoping given a little more time that will subside. A VERY good outcome given the condition he was in at the beginning of the week. Feathers.
  24. Yay, Yesterday I became a budgie grandma! One of my first batch of babies had a baby. If you count the fact that I was a mummy to the budgie that had the first baby, I guess I could be considered a budgie great grandmummy, but that's not so exciting This is the new Mummy, Midori, back when she was still in the nest herself... She has teamed up with one of my original Budgies, Beau, a skyblue spangle, who was fathering chicks of his own when Midori was in the nest. They have been inseparable since Midori was about 4mths old, so they finally got their chance... Feathers.
  25. I am SUCH a bad mummy! It's been about a month since poor, neglected Kazumi has had a bath, so there was only one thing to do... Fill a suitable container with warm water and stand back! Bums... oop's I mean Bomb's away... Temperature check Woo Hoo! Wiggle, waggle.. Splish Splash.... I was takin' a bath Time for a top up What do you mean I'm messy?!! I can't see any mess! Ahhh, there's nothing quite like a good bath. Feathers.
