  1. Hi there Little One, your photo did not appear unfortunately. The easiest way to put a photobucket photo into your post is to click on the "IMG CODE" under the album photo and it will automatically copy the information, then paste it into the message. Please make sure that they are smaller than 450 x 450 pixels before posting them. If you have any problems, click on my name at the left hand side of any post and click 'send message' and I will attempt to answer them for you. Feathers.
  2. Hi Misty, the 'green' one is a cinnamonwing. Kaz pointed it out earlier. They can appear to be grey, but you will find that it is actually brown. It is an easy and very common mistake to make, I've done it myself. Feathers.
  3. Very occassionally! Mostly no, but when quite often when worming birds I get 'curly' poops, which is a sign that they, unfortunately, did have worms and that the gel is working. You have seen Marty drinking the water, so you know that he is getting the required treatment. Feathers.
  4. Hi Denise, you bought some lovely birds. My first thought was that he was thinking about the best combinations for show breeding. Feathers.
  5. Julie, Congratulations!! Great photo. Feathers.
  6. Hi Marty, I have never had any problems with the wormout gel before, it works really well and is always a yellow colour. Check in the next couple of days... you may be rewarded with some 'curly' droppings. Feathers.
  7. Hi Kaz, I would like this to be placed in the FAQ section as it would be easier to find when referring to it. Feathers.
  8. Hi thk, I think Charley would love a fly around the room. If he hops onto your hand and fingers willingly and you are able to remove him from the cage on your hand, then he is ready. He may bumb into a wall or two, but the more he gets to fly the better and more confident he will become. They usually fly rather haphazardly the first couple of times, but over the next few days they practice short distances and landing where they want and they do eventually gain control. Try a small room first, so that you are able to catch him if he will not step up on command. He will enjoy this out of cage time and will learn that you are the boss as long as you always get him to step up to take him out of the cage. There is a fantastic article outlining the steps required in taming on our FAQ section, click here: Taming your Budgie Feathers
  9. Hi Lisa, They are all looking great. I particularly love Oscar and Mango. The bubs are looking fantastic. Feathers.
  10. Hi BMS, Marty is a beautiful boy. Not too sure about letting a bird destroy bits of my laptop though :rip: Kazumi only gets on my laptop keys to work her way under my fingers for a head rub and a scratch . Feathers.
  11. Well done for making the effort you made with her. Fly free little Gracie with your new wings in birdie heaven. Feathers.
  12. I agree 100% with Daz. I had one hen who looked like she was uncomfortable, so she went into a heated hospital with the front covered and a wide dish of shallow water inside to create a humid environment. She passed her egg overnight. Had she not done so, she would have been straight off to the vet. All budgies need a healthy diet which includes 30% seed, 30% pellets, 30% fresh foods and 10% treats such as honey sticks, millet etc. Their water should be changed daily to avoid build up of bacteria and they should always have access to a cuttlefish bone (or calcium bell or block) and an iodine block. This gives budgerigars access to all of their daily needs. However a budgie that you intend to use for breeding requires a higher dose of calcium, along with sufficient vitamin D, which enables to hen to absorb the calcium. Having said that though any budgie would benefit from the occassional dose of a liquid vitamin, such as calcivet. 13. Hi Dave, good luck with the leg, I hope it heals with the splint. If not, I'm sure it will adjust just fine. Feathers.
  14. Hi Norm, No big deal, just happened that last time I posted after an auction Macka was on the same site and watched the war take off :budgiedance: A whole lot of yelling about a tongue in the mouth comment. Nerwen, I have a couple of nice female lutes, wanted some new male blood for splits as well. Feathers.
  15. Hi Kimmi, he is adorable Lovely colouring. Good luck with finger trainig him. You may find that if the breeder has already handled him a lot, that he breezes through most of the usual stages and is already fairly tame. Feathers.
  16. Kaz, too, too cute.. I want an ino or DF spangle baby Feathers.
  17. Hi Rissa, It is nice to welcome yet another Western Australian to the BBC forum. I look forward to photos and stories about your flock. Feathers.
  18. Hi, no complaints about the photo quality please. : I took these very quickly earlier and didn't check them before throwing the birds all back into quarantine. I was very good and bought most birds based purely on my breeding program needs. I ended up with two Lutino cocks as I had pre-marked them during viewing and that way if I missed one I would have a go at the other. As it went along I won the first bird, but I couldn't remember which of the two was better, so when the second one came up, I got that too. Same breeder but different year, so it will be interesting to check their family pedigree's when I get them from the breeder. Then there are 2 good sized green spangles, one an opaline and both split for blue. The last one is a Dark Green of good sort, that I hadn't marked during viewing, that was revealed to be a split for Black Eyed Self, so I bid for him as I could use him in my BES breeding program. Very Happy. I daren't jokingly mention to anyone that his year was incorrect on the papperwork as the last time I did that it practically turned into a state emergency! Feathers.
  19. Hi all, Kazumi didn't have the best of days today. His big, bully, human Mummy decided he was in need of some calcium and vitamins, via a crop feed! Poor Kazumi spent the best part of the next hour bobbing his little head up and down and vomiting up as much of the contents of his crop as he could. Well, that was just fine by me if he wanted to be a silly boy about it, but it created one very sticky little budgie (along with a whole heap of little spots of budgie vomit I had to clean up), SO, Kazumi got a bath whether he wanted one or not! [sobs] Don't look at me.. no, really, you don't want to see.... [crying] I look UGLLLYYYYYYYY How embarrassing... Hmmpff, well I guess a little millet could make me feel a bit better.. Mmmm, miiilllllleeeeet... Bath, what bath? Ahh, time to relax, I'm beautiful again now! Silly little boy oh, and the extra calcium and vitamins.. they were in the soft food he ate with gusto later... Feathers.
  20. Hi Sandy, I always check the nests in my breeding room twice a day - morning and afternoon. Feathers.
  21. Hi Pie, thank you for that - very good points, especially the cere colour in hens. Feathers.
  22. Oh, stop bragging already!! She was a great hen that I would have gladly taken home! From a good breeder too, very nice pick up Kaz. Feathers.
  23. Hi Budgielover, firstly you need to read this FAQ... http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en If you get a pet shop box, open it at the end that the bird's head is at and then put it in your quarantine cage. The budgie will come out when it is ready, or you can remove it from the box yourself if you are in a hurry for some reason. The budgie needs to be left to become used to it's surroundings. If it is a young bird make sure that it is eating. Supplying soft food or millet for young birds is also helpful. Feathers.
  24. I'm afraid I was slack too. I also came home with 5 birds, but no photos tonight... feet up was the order of the day. Kaz did much better than I... but I got what I needed for my breeding program. Feathers.
