  1. Yay, Go Steel and Bih-Lin. What a pretty couple. I have had 2 of mine paired up in the aviary since last April, when the female was just out of nappies!! They finally got their hearts desire and were ushered into a breeding cage recently. It is just nice to see pairs like that finally get a chance together without being worried about show standards. Elly, I know what you mean.. it seems only a few months back that the twins were fighting for their lives, and when Kaz had the big poisoning drama, huh. I go away for 3 months, and come back no longer a mod and there are new mods I have never even heard of... thinkgs move quickly on this forum Feathers.
  2. Hi Michelle, It sounds like you are doing really well with HIM. And don't worry too much about him, it is highly likely that he will survive the day without you. I'm guessing it is going to be awful for you though... all that "is my baby alright anxiety". What an absolutely gorgeous lilac colour he is. I have a baby the same colour at the moment. Soo pretty. Blue and purple hues don't photograph too well usually, but in that close-up photo the colour shows up perfectly on his neck, suck a lovely soft colour. I get the feeling Jack is going to be very much a large part of your family life for years to come. Lily might have to get used to sharing Feathers.
  3. Hi Julie, you have a lovely family and you look fantastic! I haven't posted in this section, but all you need to do to see me is click on my name and my profile, with photo, will come up (a lot of members have profile pics) Feathers.
  4. Hi Neat, Some people have a lateral thinking brain and others don't. Some people 'get' rubiks cubes, others have no hope. So it is with genetics. My best advice is to do what you have done and just ask how to get thre result you want. You could look at all the boxes and the letters in them and just get more and more confused. It's not worth the brain strain! D Feathers.
  5. Hiya Liv, It is an amazing reaction from the budgies, isn't it? Do as I do, carry secatuers with you wherever you go, just in case you see a suitable branch donating peppermint tree.
  6. Hi Deb, Helga looks SO much better now than she did when you got her. Her feathers are so healthy and smooth looking now. well done. Feathers.
  7. Hi Kristy, I am with Elly. You need to take out all of his favourite toys and replace them with new ones. You should re-arrange the cage every couple of weeks anyway to keep it interesting. Eventually, when Zues settles down a bit, now and then you can add back some of the toys. Feathers
  8. The depth of colour indicates that he is in breeding condition. Feathers.
  9. Hi Michelle, I am going to go against the grain here and say that I think it is male.... It looks to me like the colour is solid and goes right out to the edges of the cere. I think we need to get a better photo of the cere to tell for sure. Budgies huddling up together on the cage floor usually indicates that they are still very young and haven't properly fledged yet. Another week or two to further develop and learn to perch and fly a little would have been good. This is not a problem if they can crack their own seed and eat. It is a very pretty budgie. Keep up the bonding sessions with your daughter and teach her how to care for her new feathered friend, changing it's water daily and checking it has seed. It would be great when it re-grows its flights for it to be able to learn to fly before any decision is made on whether to have the flights cut again. Feathers.

Hiya, He so cute. Kazumi likes to chat to objects in his cage too. His favourite talking partner was a bell, but I thought he was getting too attached to it, so I took it away. He now just chats away out of the front of the cage. Great video, thanks for sharing. Feathers.
  11. Hi Birdbrain, both of your girls are absolutely gorgeous!! Welcome to the forum :yellowhead: Feathers.

Hi all, I haven't had a problem with ants in my aviary. In the section that I am using for breeding however an ant nest moved in. I got rid of the unwelcome guests with Vetafarm's Avian Insect Liquidator, AIL. I have it near to hand in the bird area and spray all the areas the aviary where spiders etc could enjoy nesting in. It works great. Feathers.
  13. Yay, way to go grey!! Congrats Kaz. Feathers.

Hi Derricka, Pleased to meet you, welcome to the forum. Your birds are beautiful! Feathers.
  15. Hi there Derricka, Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately we can't see the pictures as there has been an error uploading them. Do you need some help? Feathers.
  16. Neat, I am not surprised..... uncross your eyes girl!!! If the wind changes they'll stay that way! Feathers.
  17. Hi Dave, What about the cock bird? Is he inexperienced? In any case, I wouldn't worry unless it keeps happening, they other chicks looked okay. Feathers.
  18. Hi Andrea, you have had plenty of people give you mutation information, so I just thought I would tell you why your camera might not be focussing properly. Taking a photo that close you need to use the 'macro' setting on your camera. It is usually shown as a tulip type flower on digital cameras. Hope this helps. Your budgies are gorgeous!! Feathers.
  19. Hi Jenene, the pairs look great! I hope you have lots of time to wait for the last couple though... the hen hasn't started going into breeding condition yet, although she obviously loves her boy! Can't see the cere in the other couples. Feathers.
  20. As requested by Elly, this is my Blue Series Texas Clerabody, Cammie: Feathers.
