Hi all, I have 4 budgies, 2 young, 2 old. the older ones don't like being handled, the female bites really hard, the ,male just flies everywhere. One of the younger ones lets me hold him but not for very long. The other one again just flies away. I think the older ones are probably past taming but im interested in taming the younger ones or at least the one that lets me hold him. How can i do this? is there a trick to it. I hold him and talk to him but he is quite nervous. I would appreciate any help you have! The young ones are almost nine months. Thnks Sam

Well my budgies had a baby in november last year... 5days before my birthday actually! When she was learning to fly i was soooooooo happy when she came and landed my my arm. it was so sweet!

Hey, my budgie is kinda crazy! When my budgie got bored as his companian was in her nesting box taking care of a bub he decided he didnt want to stay in his cage. frequently he would squeeze through the bars of the cage and fly around the room. This became a bit of a problem as he wasnt very tame and so didnt let me pick him up. i was on holiday so my brother was taking care of the birds. he uncovered them one morning and he wasnt in the cage! he searched the house and found him behind the blinds in my parents bedroom! The bird doesnt escape very often anymore and i think that is because he has 3 friends to keep him company! Sam :ygbudgie:

Hi all, just something kinda funny that i thought u you might like. My first budgie used to sleep in a very strange way. She would sleep with one leg hanging on to the side of her cage and the other leg on top of her mirror. it was really strange to see. haha Sam

Hi thanks a lot! I had him out for ten minutes when he kept pooing. They seem to be getting along extremely well and if there are any fights it usually doesn't include him. I was going to take him to the vet any way so i will definately do that now. when i hold him he seems to shake slightly so i guess thats a sign that he is nervous but he is quite tame so i dont see why he would be nervous. Hi all, At the moment i have 4 budgies in the same cage 2 adults and 2 10wk old babies. One of the babies is an albino and he is the one i have the problem with. i had him out of the cage (he is tame) for about he minutes, in which time he "pooed" 5 times and seemed to urinate 4 times. He also sleeps a lot and is missing a few feathers from his head. Is there anything wrong with him? I appreciate any help! Thanks Sam xxx

Hey thanks for your suggestions! He is about 9 weeks old. All the birds the breeder bought around were very placid. She was only away on vacation for 4 days so he wasn't at my place for very long. When he was at my house he was fine when I held him. I held him the other day andhe is fine when he is sitting on your finger of hand or shoulder or anywhere, but only starts to bite when you try to stroke him or put you hands near him Thanks Sam xxx

Hi all, I recently got a baby albino budgie from a breeder. She said she would only bring the males. The budgie I got off her is about 11 weeks old now and its cere is pinkish purple. Have i been sold a female or is the sexing different with albinos? Any help is greatly appreciated! Sam

Hi guys! My friend and I bought a new baby budgie each and they were both very placid. I took care of hers while she went on holiday and it was very calm, never bit and slept a lot. Her bird was in the cage with 2 of my other baby budgies. After she took him home he has been biting extremely hard, seems really agitated whenever she holds him and hardly ever sleeps. He was never like this before and i cant explain why he has changed. He is her only bird so he gets a lot of attention. She doesnt know what to do with him! Any help is greatly appreciated! Sam xxxx

hey guys! i was just wondering when the chick will be able to fend for herself? when should i stop feeding her egg and biscuit? she eats seed now and she is 4 wks 5 days old. if anybody has tips on tameing then please let me know, i already handle her a lot. thanks sam

hey thanks for the idea, but i cant do that either! he is pecking the baby aswell & trying to mate with her. i finally got her to eat egg and biscuit mix and she is eating well. she sometimes gets cold so i wrap her in a towel to keep her warm. she is doing well so i think she should be okay. thanks forr the help. Hi Jenny! it is not at all true that they need to hear their own kind to breed. i have 2 budgies that live indoors and i have a beautiful healthy 4 week old chick! Do all the research you can, but i find the best research is from experience! Good Luck!!! Sam

It will take some time for the birds to get used to the nest box. i pput a nest box in last year during breeding season and all the eggs my hen laid were infertile. this year in the first clutch she laid one hatched. :ausb: the budgies wont breed until they are about 18 months old. my budgies are feeding each other at the moment and this is a good sign that they are getting friendly! hey guys i have a photo for you! if it is a girl then we r thinking of calling her Candy. The baby is doing well since yesterday its mother rejected it. i was handling it when she laid another egg. when i went to put it back in the box she attacked him so i decided to keep it away for awhile. i kept it in a shoebox for a couple of hours so it could sleep. when it woke, i put it back in the cage so his parents could feed him and his mother came out of the box and again attacked it. i took him out and put the shoebox in another cage and put it in there. i tried to feed him egg & biscuit mix but he didnt eat it! this morning the mum has thrown the egg out of the box so i thought maybe she wouldnt attack him now, but she still did. he ate some seed this morning so i put some in the cage. Hey! I have been handling the baby and he is doing really well. this morning when i woke up he was sitting on a perch with his parents! but then he strated to fal asleep and nearly fell off the perch so i decided to put him back in the nest box so he could rest. he is still trying to come out but hasnt since! i have a picture to show but i dont know how to put it on the forum! thanks for the names guys! i THINK i have a girl the cere is a pinkish colour so yeah! thank you! Hey guys! thanks for all your help! sorry i havent replied sooner, i have been busy with school. The chick is very well and is even trying to get out of the nest box! its so cute! i think its a boy because it looks just like its dad! The only thing i am having trouble with is giving it a name! if anyone has any suggestion please tell me! its green and yellow and when i take it out of the box he moves very quickly. thanks again Sam

Yeah i wrote the wrong thing! i just want to tame it. um the baby is 11 days old now and the mother doesnt seem to be looking after it. in the last hr and a half the hen went in the nest box once for about five minutes. what do i do? its like she has lost interest in her baby. the baby is sitting in the corner of the box slightly shaking. HELP!

Thank-you heaps! the mother is looking after it very well! the only thig is that only 1 has hatched and that 1 will be a week old tonight. the hen is blue and grey and the cock is green and yellow. im planning on keeping the baby i want to hand-rear it. the cage is quite big. im just estimating but about 35cmwide 40cm long and 55 cm tallish~! yeah thank you for all the help and ill let you know how it goes! Hi all I own 2 budgies( a cock :hap: and a hen obviously). After mating my hen laid 4 eggs. I already know about the whole incubation thing and all that. Last night one of the eggs hatched! im not sure if it was the 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th egg she laid but one of them hatched. I'm just wondering what to do now! Do i have to do anything for the chick? when will it come out of the nest box? I've had eggs before, last year, but only one hatched but it died a few days after. I'm just a little stuck on what i have to do with the baby. i have antoher cage for it and all but i gather it wont be needing it just yet. Please give me any help you can!!
