  1. Thanks for the info Elly
  2. So then guys can you help me with this one. This Albino was 12 months old at last Christmas...I was sure it had a real dark brown cere...but its now April and the cere is still pink. Perhaps I got this one wrong too because it doesn't look like turning brown.
  3. Thanks again, so the white bits on the nostrils would indicate it was a girl if it was under 12 months old or even younger is that correct. How long do you wait if its got white on the cere in identifying it as a boy. Ta again
  4. Ta for that Nerwen, i've put him in with a female, so i'll guess i'll see what happens or doesn't happen

  10. Grit.......I have always thought that because birds have no teeth they have a limited means in crushing their food. However if they swallow small pieces of grit when pecking around on the floor it mixes the seed in the gizzard and the strong muscles together with the grit, churn the seed into a pasty mulch that then can be more easily digested. Just a thought.

  13. Hi peoples, just wandering if anybody has heard of an Ameranthus Plant, a woman who lives close to me writes articles for the Australian Bird Keeper Magazine swears by them for there nutrition and wholeness for budgies. So I planted some seeds and started to grow some for my self, she reckons they go nuts over them and that they are real good for birds. So I picked a few leaves and flowers and gave some to my birds and hey presto, they love it. Here's a couple of photos to see if you can reconize the plant.
