  1. Bea, Yes hens can be split for some genes such as the pied, but not for sex-linked genes. IF they have it, they would be visual. I'm sure someone can explain it a lot easier then I can!! (Laughing out loud) Hmmm I wonder which 1/4 point I got wrong.. Is it question 6?? hmmmm...

awww, look at them! Soooo gorgeous!! Nice to meet you and your flock.
  3. aww, look at all those babies!!! How cute!! I can see a cinnamon baby coming through there in Kaya's bunch.. how beautiful!!!
  4. okay, let me get this right... well trying to anyway. A dutch pied has almost 'normal' wing markings, and recessive pied has splotches here and there right?? would that make my little Chase a Dutch pied or a recessive pied?? So far no iris rings yet, and he's having his first moult. One of his back And also just a question regarding recessive pied... I was told that if they have some sort of body colour around the face/cheek area, it means that they are not recessive pied. Is that the case? I mean like Bobby's case, he's got the blue around his cheek area, but he's still a recessive pied right?!?! sorry to be a pain, but I'm learning the genetics.. hehehe.. very confusing, but it's fun. Loving it.
  5. I've noticed with all YF2, the easiest way to determine them is whether or not they wing patterns has yellow or white on them. If there are any sort of yellow colouring where the white should be, then it's a YF2. I've not seen a YF1 with yellow wing patterns where the white should be. in the link that you gave Rainbow, the very last picture of the Yellowface1 is in fact a yellowface two but with graphics touch up to the chest area. If you look closer you can see that the chest blue are not of it's original colour but has been touched up to look like a YF2, but the wings are still yellow colour. Whereas the other two YF1 in the pics are original pics, and you can see that wings are in fact white, not yellow. Just the same Shawna's Star, the yellow are only on the head and no where else, the wing patterns stay the true base colour which is white.

awww what a cutie pie!!! love the expression on his face!! okay, here're my thoughts... Nerwen, please correct me here.. hehehe.. I don't think it's a violet, but rather a cobalt since the lighting may have changed it a little. Reason I said that because I took some pics of Goofy who is a 'lighter' cobalt, but in some of his pics with artificial lighting it made him look very violet!! And also I thought violet suppose to have dark purple cheek patches? Bobby's aren't that dark.. Secondly.. is Bobby is Dutch pied?? (I'm trying to distinguish betweenthe dutch and the recessive pied).. Since Bobby's got colours around the cheek area would that still make him a recessive pied or would he be a Dutch pied? I know the wing patterns says recessive, but what about the body colour around the cheek??

  9. awww, what a pair of cutie pie.
  10. Shawna, Before I saw Daz's photos, I was going to disagree with some of the experts here by saying that Star is in fact a YF1 and the rest as YF2. now after seeing Daz's photos, I'm going to say that Star is definitely a YF1. I have been after a Type 1 for sooo long, but for some reason, I keep seeing type 2 yellowface only.
  11. Awwww... Linnie and Jenni are both gorgeous gals!!! I especially love Jenni's colouring though!! Wow!!
  12. that bare patch on their chest is normal for all birds. They have strategically placed bare patches of skins to cut down on the weight they are carrying for flying. If you bird lets you hold it, you can try to count how many primary wing feathers have been trimmed. A full trim consist of seven primary feathers on both wings.
