Strange Noises
I was at the vet today with one of my birds for a checkup and she was telling me the loss of voice, or different tone in the voice is a good sympton of a respiratory infection, she was telling me all the things to look out for and that just happened to be one, so i agree you should take it to a different vet for another opinion.

Sand/Grit Sheets, Loose Sand, Newspaper?
thanks for that i will get rid of the grit, and put my grate back on, it is made of the same stuff as the cage so thats handy. If its working for your 11 birds rainbow it will definately be okay for my 4. Its amazing what pet shops tell you! thanks for bringing this topic up rose....

Sand/Grit Sheets, Loose Sand, Newspaper?
i use a handful of grit, only under instruction of the pet shop (someone tell me if i'm not supposed to) and she also told me to take that wire grate out cause its supposed to hurt there feet?? is that wrong? my birdy's love scratching around on the bottom in the grit although i don't think they actually eat it. i sometimes put newspaper in the cage, because they like to chew it up ..not the coloured type. tell me if i am doing anything wrong

Putting a Rabbit in an Aviary
thats a good idea julie, i was just at the following website http://www.myerscough.ac.uk/animal/petshop/rabbit.asp which said the following: Sleeping Habits - Rabbits are most active in the morning and at night; they generally sleep during the day. so i am thinking that because budgies are so noisy during the day and sleepy at night that during the day the budgies would annoy the rabbit and at night the rabbit would annoy the budgies. awwww and i was so excited by the idea of having both when i build my very own aviary.

Putting a Rabbit in an Aviary
hi, i found your post quite interesting as it would make sense to have birds and rabbits together as they need similar housing conditions, i looked and all i could find on the topic, which isn't really that helpful but u might find interesting is at the following website. http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/1451/bunpets2.html#birds

Question about eacalyptus leaves
hi everyone this may seem a silly question, as i live in australia i was wondering if it was okay to give budgies eucalyptus leaves. Is there different varieties that are bad ect? Also if it is okay should i wash them or anything else before i give them to my budgies. I realise that in the wild that they would eat them its just that i have heard conflicting information about giving them to domesticated budgies. thanks
